This is so true of most people online the way the computer screen protects you from the other social clues of touch, smell and vision makes you so much more sociable than you can be offline and as is the way of most people if you aren’t withdrawn and very nervous around people you probably have lots of ""real"" friends offline and don't need the online ones. A lot of people think that I am snobbish (and sometimes I might come across on line like that too) but really I am just painfully shy and nervous of getting close to anyone. Online I am different I can speak my mind and not really bother about what will happen tomorrow with that person I might not ever see them again The way people meet online is different too you see type maybe hear a voice you get to know their personality before you see their face there is no visual first impression of someone you meet online The world is changing no longer do we see people initially with our eyes we see them with our brains first
