GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE

2006 NZ LONG DISTANCE WALKS CHAMPIONSHIPS

VENUE: The venue is Turners & Growers ENZA Coolstores complex at Whakatu, approximately midway between Hastings and Clive. It is simply superb for this event.

ACCESS:

Saturday 21st October. The normal access via GROOME PLACE will be used.

Sunday 22nd October: To keep the race circuit totally free from all traffic, we will use the normal exit from the site as our access. This will be from ANDERSON ROAD and will be clearly marked.

FACILITIES: The facilities are all first class.

Free tea and coffee will be available for supporters throughout the day in the cafeteria.
The Parking is under cover right alongside the race course.
The road surface for the walkers is ideal. Dead level, negligible camber or crossfall, and mostly very smooth asphalt. (A small section has a chip seal.)
The races will be timed using the Codenz "Sportscore" computer program, and this will allow us to provide printouts of all walkers lap times as the races proceed.

PROGRAMME:

SATURDAY 21 OCT 2006
	10:00 am	Judges' Training Course
	2:00 pm	Basic Coaching and Information Session for new walkers. Will include a short (1 km to 2km) non-competitive race to sort out any problems prior to the real races next day.
	2:00 pm to 5:00pm	Course Open for Inspection

SUNDAY 22 OCT 2006
	6:00 am	Course Open for Inspection and Collection of Race Packs
	7:00 am	Start of 50km Championship Races.
	8:00 am	Start of all other Championship Races (M16 and W16 10km; Sen W and W19 15km; M19 and Masters Women's 20km.
	9:00 am	Start of all Non-Championship races. (Except 50km)
	Prize Giving	The prize giving ceremonies will be held in the Cafeteria at the race venue shortly after the last competitor finishes, but not before 1:00 pm.
	NZRWA AGM	The AGM of the NZ Race Walking Association will be held shortly after the Prize Giving ceremonies.
	Sunday Evening	Planning not finalised, but an opportunity to get together, watch video of the days racing and other race walking videos. At the race venue.
