06.05.02 - Company Announcement
The directors of Widespread Portfolios Limited advise that the company has acquired, by
private treaty, a further 1,630,000 shares in Canadian listed company Vaaldiam Resources
Limited. Following this transaction Widespread now holds 3,132,000 shares, representing 29.5%
of Vaaldiam�s present issued capital, plus 1.5m warrants exercisable at CA$0.15 within the
next 24 months.
Assuming the warrants were exercised Widespread would then be holding 38.2% of Vaaldiam�s
issued ordinary capital. The total cost to date of the shares and warrants is CA$231,700,
somewhat lower than the present market value of the investment.
Widespread Portfolios is now by far the largest shareholder in Vaaldiam Resources and has
been invited to appoint a representative to the board of directors.
Vaaldiam is engaged in the development of African diamond deposits and presently involved in
projects in the Central African Republic and in South Africa. Management�s goal is to develop
Vaaldiam into a leading producer of high quality diamonds, through the systematic exploration
and development of properties that are situated in the most prospective areas, with emphasis
on early cash flow and rapid return on investment.
Notwithstanding the significant unrealised gain already made on this investment following the
recent re-rating of Vaaldiam on the Canadian share market, Widespread Portfolios has invested
in the company for the long term with the intention of providing Vaaldiam with the financial
backing it requires to achieve its goals.
Vaaldiam has 10,623,221 shares outstanding following the recently announced 1.5m share
placement to Widespread Portfolios Limited.

Tuesday 16th April 2002 - Canadian Company Announcement
Vaaldiam Resources Ltd. ("Vaaldiam") (VRL-CDNX) wishes to announce that it proposes to issue
1,500,000 Units, on a private placement basis, at a price pf $0.10 per Unit to Widespread
Portfolios Limited, a New Zealand based and quoted investment company, for total gross
proceeds of $150,000. The proceeds of the private placement are intended to be used to
finance the company's 40% interest in the joint venture exploration program in the Central
African Republic with Gem Fields Resources Limited, and for general working capital.
Each Unit will consist of one common share and one common share purchase warrant to acquire
one Vaaldiam common share at a price of $0.15 per share at any time and from time to time for
a period of two years from the date of closing. The proposed transaction is subject to
receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals.
Vaaldiam currently has 9,123,221 common shares outstanding.
