Excerpt from The Rich List, by Graeme Hunt
The founder of the winery was accountant-farmer Wyatt
Creech, later an MP and deputy prime minister in the
Shipley National government, who planted the first vines
in his Om Santi vineyard in 1984 and four years later
formed an unlisted public company to take it over and
build a winery. Palliser Estate is one of the country's
leading boutique wineries.
