Background
Syd is a leading professional company director with directorships
on the McLean's Institute, Canterbury District Health Board      
(Chairman), and many others. Until December 2000 he chaired the  
New Zealand Health Funding Authority. Earler he was Chairman of  
the New Zealand Crown Health Industry Group and between 1997-2000
he was chairman of Canterbury Health Ltd. Syd had a distinguished
career with New Zealand Post, retiring in 1996 as General Manager
Commercial Operations (International) and was a former Chief     
Postmaster in Christchurch, then Regional General Manager (SI).  
He is a member of the New Zealand Post Banking Establishment     
Committee.
