Background
Bettle has considerable experience in top executive positions, moving
from the dairy industry to take up the mantle as managing director of
Wrightson from 1987 to 1991, before becoming chief executive of the  
Alliance Group from 1991 to 1995.                                    

He then headed national law firm Kensington Swan for three years     
before joining the board of Owens, adding to other board positions   
with New Zealand TAB (chairman), Southern Health (chairman), Allied  
Farmers, Natural Gas Corporation and Radio Works.
