Background
Dr Shepherd was a member of the Biochemistry Department,
University of Otag, as a Lecturer (1969-1981) and was   
the Foundation Professor in Experimental Oral Biology   
(1981-1992). He has published more than 100 oiginal     
articles in international journals and contributed to a 
number of books and reviews on the physiology and       
biochemistry of microscopic fungi. Dr Shepherd was a    
member of the Otago Polytechnic Council for 14 years and
was its Chairman from 1995 to 1999.
