SHARE OFFER WITHDRAWN
Pacific Edge Biotechnology has temporarily withdrawn its bid to raise $5 million through a
public share offer, given international nervousness with equity markets.
The withdrawal will not interfere with the continued development of commercial gene-profiling
technology, developed at the University of Otago, or the securing of intellectual property.
Funding is available to continue with this process at Dunedins Centre for Innovation.
Company director John Gilks said fallout from the terrorist attacks in the United States
earlier this month meant it was not the right time to raise capital on equity markets.
Once world economies and financial markets returned to normal, the company would relaunch its
bid, Mr Gilks said.

PEBL LAUNCHES $5M PUBLIC BID
Dunedins latest biotechnology company will form alliances with the worlds major drug
companies to commercialise discoveries for managing disease it makes from its gene
technology.
Pacific Edge Biotechnology yesterday launched a public bid for $5 million, through the issue
of 20 million 25c shares to commercialise gene profile technology developed at the University
of Otago.
Chief executive Davis Farmer told investors income would come from utilising gene information
and the software needed to process and compile the huge amount of data that is generated from
the process.
Pacific Edge Biotechnology (PEBL) would target diseases or conditions that have genetic
components such as gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, melanoma, cervical cancer and tumours.
Thirteen people will be employed at the laboratory being built at Dunedins Centre for
Innovation, including two from the United States, who are moving to the city.
