Gas Investments NZ Ltd is a limited purpose company. It was
established for the limited objective of raising finance   
for the purchase of certain financial assets, primarily the
Gas Loan.                                                  

The purchase of the Gas Loan in June 1999 was funded by an 
issue of fixed rate notes to investors in the United States
and Inflation Linked Shares to investors in New Zealand.   

The Gas Loan is repayable by monthly instalments and is due
to be repaid in full by 30 September 2009. At that time,   
Gas Investments NZ Ltd is expected to be liquidated with   
any residual funds distributed to the holders of the       
Inflation Linked Shares.                                   


The $300 million loan was from a Natural Gas Corporation   
Company to a Fletcher Challenge Company, which in turn has 
been bought by Shell. This has something to do with gas    
from the Maui gas field... If anyone can help make sense
