Indianapolis
From October thru December 1999 I was living in Indianapolis while working at Nucor Steel. I also had the chance to spend a month there covered in snow at the beggining of 2000. Here are some pictures of the time I spent there....

Ahhhh - Pickwick Farms....Luxury Indy digs. This apartment could have been any one of ours

Talk about tail-gating! Actually...that is the tender for the RV....I saw one towing a Ford Explorer once.

Downtown Indy and the RCA Dome

Another statue about another war....

Here is an example of the lovely flat landscape that is typical of Indiana.

Here is Chris Beatson the man with the plan. He appears with Gary and Izzy - the two rental cars...

This is 'The Trailer' where I spent most of my time working.....it originally looked like this
things change though......just think at about this time it was summer in New Zealand...
Driving in the snow was something new to me - but luckily my car was front wheel drive and had a handbrake. 'Try and keep it on the highway' was the best piece of driving advice I ever got.

This is a snow plow coming the other way......
This is a shot of the cold mill at Nucor (no shit!)
When it is winter - this is what your car looks like in the morning. That is why you start it before breakfast and get it warmed up. Also note how dark it is - the days are pretty short and cold.
This is a photo of me by the 'Tard Bus'. So named because this is a special bus used to pick up retards and take them to school. They make it look like a regular bus so the retards don't feel bad. I get the feeling it makes it worse.....in the photo I was trying out for my own bus pass.
This is the electric arc furnace melting scrap metal to be made into steel. You can guage the size by comparing to the steps in the background.

We all decided to check out the Indy 500 track one weekend. There is John, Dave, Myself and Mike - one more and we could start a funky boy band.

I have never been good with signs...

This is the finish line....they had a few bricks left over so put them to use..

These are some of the finest specimens I have ever been witness to in this country. Hicks - and Darn proud of it. I am actually laughing at them out loud in this one.

One of them was so excited he climbed on the roof....can you say 'Deliverence'?
