The Bees Invade Europe

Colour Break

All too soon the week in the Alsace was over and it was time to drive down into Switzerland (with help from the rental car GPS) to see our friends, the Hallers. Denise, Thomas and their daughter Jessica live in Ottenbach, just out of Zurich. Kathy & the Hallers, Zurich The weather for the first couple of days was a bit grey and cool but we managed to do some sightseeing with a day in Zurich and another day where we drove to Lucerne. The rest of the 4 days was spent with Caitlin and Jessica playing whilst Kathy and Denise caught up. We also went for a cycle-ride in the countryside around the village which Caitlin loved, having discovered 'bikes!' earlier in the holiday. Then it was time to bid farewell to Europe until next time and we departed from Zurich-Kloten bound for Singapore...
We arrived early-morning at Changi Airport and took a taxi to the ferry terminal where we caught a high speed ferry to Bintan Island, part of Indonesia. Map showing where Bintan is We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Sedona, a luxury resort with pools, beach, golf and great restaurants. Although there was a torrential downpour everyday these didn't last long and we spent most of our time around the pool, at the beach or in the Nutty Bunch Kid's Club, all of which Caitlin loved. Peter managed to get a round of golf in on the Ian Baker-Finch designed course which was brilliant (the course, not the golf!) and Kathy had a couple of relaxing hours in the Health Spa. We would thoroughly recommend Hotel Sedona as an alternative to a stopover in Singapore for anyone travelling to/from Europe as Bintan is only 45 minutes away by ferry. Our final day arrived and after lunch we caught the ferry back to Singapore. We upgraded to Business Class again for our night flight back to Christchurch and arrived the following morning nice and refreshed after 6 weeks away. Until next time....   Back to the Gallery -->
