It was late-August when Kathy, Caitlin and Peter flew from Christchurch to Singapore on Air New Zealand. We were a week late in departing due to Caitlin having a chest infection and the doctor saying she couldn't fly! However, she recovered quickly and we were away, flying Business Class courtesy of Air Points, and did she make the most of it.... The flight from Singapore to Heathrow was completely solid so we nursed Caitlin on our laps for the 13 hours but she managed to have 2 good sleeps like this. Our friends Russell and Donna met us at Heathrow and we stayed with them in Wickford for a few days. During this time we had the Hen and Stag nights for Russ and Donna's wedding for which Peter was Best Man. |

We then headed to Brandon (near Durham) via a brief visit to see cousins Denis and Ann Howe at Colden Common outside Winchester. At Brandon we stayed with Suzanne and Richard Jackson, friends who have moved there from Brisbane for the short-term. We caught up over a few beers and also spent a day having a leisurely drive over the Pennines with Suzanne. Then it was back to Essex for the wedding. The day dawned fine and warm. After a lovely service and photos at the Ivy Hill Hotel everyone proceeded to the reception at Martins' Retail Social Club where Donna had beautifully decorated the room. There followed lots of good food, drinking, dancing and entertainment late into the night.  Next --> |
