Principals of Sociology
Sociology is the scientific study of human interaction on the micro and macro level and has been around since as early as the 1700's when Emile Durkheim began the science.
Sociology discusses discrimination, sexuality, culture, religion, education and more. It poses many questions to problems that exist in our everyday lives.
In the beginning I thought, "What's the point of bringing up all of these problems if we're not going to come up with the solutions?" Well, it turns out that in this class, we discuss these things to improve our ability to think critically. View things from a variety of perspectives. After all, it is INTRO to sociology.
Sadly, I get no comfort from this class. But I am gaining a much broader view of the world than even I thought I had. In fact, I find myself gravitating towards the science and I am considering continuing my education toward a degree in sociology once I am finished with this one.
As I've said, we have discussed many topics. A big problem in the United States is age discrimination. My term paper is about website accessability for senior citizens. I was amazed at how a website that is likely to be visited by senior citizens was so poorly designed.
The problem of age discrimination must be resolved. Let's face it: we're all going to grow old. The senior citizen population is larger than it has ever been and is growing. It's time to make some changes. It's not that hard, just do it!
