The infant lay still in the cold, white snow fast freezing. Little did he know that he would become the greatest legend known to the Realm of Arkania. * * * The pair of Half-Elves came up the freezing babe. Tirou Gillis and Drezua Tameis were out patrolling the forest when they found the infant. "He's been out here for a while." noted the observent ranger. "Maybe you should take the child to your home." Tirou replied "I cannot take the child in, good Tirou for you see my wife is with child and we will have 2 children to take care of. Anyways, it may be good for you to have someone around to keep you company." "Good point, my friend. I will take him in then. I shall name him Nythi." They went their seperate ways to their homes, all the while Tirou thinking of what would happen since he took in the boy, would he not be able to take his daily patrols or even go talk with the townsfolk. Tirou's warrior senses were yelling out at him, but too late the goblins came anyways. * * * There weren't that many goblins, just a score, but still they overmatched the surprised ranger. Tirou drew his short sword, and faced his enemies. One goblin attacked tentatively with a crude spear, Tirou deflected the attack and counter-attacked with a deadly slash to the throat. The goblin cried out in pain, but no sound came from his mouth, as it faded into the darkness of death. The remaining goblins watched in amazement at the skill of the ranger, they had the advantage of numbers or so they thought. They began forming a circle around the half-elf. Another goblin came at the ranger, and it too fell to the blade of the skilled warrior. A club nicked off Tirou's shoulder knocking him down, then all the goblins rushed him. Tirou knew that he would never be able to get up in time, let alone defend against the rush, when suddenly an 2 arrows flew by and took 2 goblins down. Tirou looked up to see Drezua firing away at the goblins. With his friend's appearance, Tirou got some confidence and started to slowly attack the now sorely pressed goblins. 7 goblins remained, they kept on attacking, but their attacks were fewer and less organized. One goblin managed to score a hit on Tirou's right leg, digging it's sword in deeply. Tirou winced in pain, but slashed the goblin in the stomach, then there were 6. Drezua picked off 2 more. Then the goblins did the only thing they could, they ran away as fast as their short legs could carry them. Unfortuneately for the 4 remaining goblins, they could not outrun the streaking arrows. Only one of the four survived, a lesson learned for that small patrol. " Are you alright Tirou?" Drezua, his voice filled with concern " I'll survive, I think" with that Tirou faded slowly into unconsciousness. * * * Tirou woke up to the welcoming aroma of tea, he slowly tried to get up but his leg throbbed with pain. He quickly lay back down. "Rest my friend, you have had a long day" said a the familar voice of Drezua "The child...where is he? Is he alr..ight?" Tirou replied showing concern for the child "Yes the child is here, and safe. Sleep my friend" reassured Drezua At that moment Tirou couldn't have wanted to sleep more then anything, but he had to bring the child home. He resisted the urge to just collapse on to the bed. "I must bring the child home, so I can take care of it. And I must be leaving, thank you Drezua for all the help you have given me." Tirou stated "Anything for you Tirou, but are you sure you have the strength to make the trip to your house?" "As long as I do not have any encounters along the way, then I will be fine." The walk home was long, not to mention the fact that Tirou's leg still ached from the sword wound. He marched on with Nythi in his arms, walking slowly but cautiously.Luckily he made it to his solitary house without any problems. Once he entered the house, he put Nythi into his bed and let him sleep. The child slept peacefully, and the legend has begun...
