In Loving Memory of Silverhill's Hot Stuff (Houdini) Jan.19/97 - Nov.15/99

Houdini was a female German Shepherd almost 3 years old. I got Houdini in April of 1997 she was 11 and a half weeks old. I found out about Houdini at a dog show where we met her breeder who mentioned she had a pup for sale. We went to her breeders propertly a few days later to look at her we spent time looking at her and learning about the dogs when we were done she was put back in the kennel and her breeder went indoors Houdini was the only puppy who came back to the gate to see us the others went to sleep. I knew then i had to have her and fell in love with her. I'll never forget the day i brought her home. She was such a well behaved puppy she listend well and only had 1 or 2 accidents in the house you'd swear she had been trained and housebroken already.

I named her "Star" she didn't keep that name long. When we left her (and i actually didn't bring her which i often did) we would put her in a large dog crate for her own safety. When we would return home we would find her running loose and her crate door open so one day i pretended to leave and hide outside the window and watched to see what she was doing and i saw her use her teeth and open up the door and get out... she knew exactly what she was doing we had to pad lock her crate door shut to keep her in and that's how she got her name "Houdini" soon after that she started learning how to open the back door we would have to keep it locked all the time. We had a few problems with her as a pup which we could have avoided by listening to her breeder and not the "other" people who didin't know what they were talking about... but we know now. Houdini loved to sleep on the couch and play frisbee and ball she also loved to herd our cats around the house. In August of 1998 we bred Houdini to Ch. Woodside's Kennedy Echolane OFA she whelped her puppies on Oct. 19 1998 5 males and 3 females.. she made an excellent mother.. they all survived. We kept 2 males who are now just over a year of age "Highway" and "Sinister"

On Monday November 15 1999 in the evening while we were out Houdini escaped our house by opening the window that was slightly cracked open once again living up to her name. She escaped around 4:40pm and was hit by a car at around 5:30pm thankfully an elderly man who saw her get hit rushed her to the emergency vet but she didn't make it. We didn't know what happened to her until Wednesday November 17 1999
We will never forget her and what an EXCELLENT pet she was you couldn't ask for a better pet. She was faithfull she was everything you could ask for.

I will be putting her pictures up here soon along with the pictures of her puppies who are now grown.
