The New York Panthers 16U Red squad won seven games over the weekend to win the West Point Tournament. Pitching carried the top-seeded Panthers to a trio of victories in the tournament.
On Saturday the Panthers beat the Long Island Breakers 8-0 behind the arm of Samantha Sanchez, the Capital Land Crush 3-0 (Allison Castellucci fanned 16), and the Connecticut Blue Breakers 8-1 (Nicole Losito and Sanchez combined on a three hitter).
In the Single elimination round on Sunday the Panthers enjoyed a 4-0 day to cap an undefeated weekend.
Ashley Frange had four hits and Christine Maslankowski three RBI behind the three hit pitching of Nicole Losito in an 8-1 win over the PA Fillies and Allison Castellucci connected on the game-wining single to preserve Samantha Sanchez's shutout in a 2-0 victory over the NY Diamond Dolls.
The Panthers topped the Connecticut Green Devils 5-1 behind pitcher Allison Castellucci and Sanchez returned in game four to out duel the Stratford Breakers 4-2.
Maslankowski had a two-run triple, Alyson Slattery added two hits and an RBI and Amalia DiTrapani made two precise relay throws to cut down potential runs.
