The New York Panthers White
16-and-under squad was declared the winner of the
Rampage Tournament and qualified for the PONY
Nationals in Raleigh, N.C., starting Aug. 5
On Saturday the Panthers, finished as the
number 1 seed going 3-0 and only giving up 2 runs
for the day. The Panthers defeated the West
Milford Xtreme 2-0 and the Livingston Lightning
9-1 behind winning pitcher Bonnie Stenger while
pitcher Laura Gold defeated the Ramsey Rockets
9-1. Christina Semey, Jen McGroarty and Aileen
Berran starred defensively.
On Sunday, the Panthers defeated the Central
Jersey Rebels 4-3, again Bonnie Stenger was the
winning pitcher. The Panthers were in the third
inning of a 0-0 game with the Flemington Flames
(4th seed) when the rains came and didn't
stop. After about 45 minutes, the directors
called the tournament and gave the #1 teams first
place.
