Panther 14U Blue Squad, Cops Fourth Tournament

The NY Panthers 14 under Blue team won six of seven games over the weekend to win the Indian Mills Mystics Tournament, the fourth title the Blue squad has taken this year.
 Pitchers Kim Keshecki, Christine Petridis and Allison Castellucci each won two games, backed by Alyson Slattery (eight hits, five RBI), Kristine Knuth (seven hits) and Nicole Losito (five RBI).
 Diana Ruddy and Marianne Tepedino had key hits in the final games and Jennifer Pomponio and Amalia DiTrapani sparkled defensively.

Panther 14U Blue, Wins Third Pony Tournament

ESSEX, Conn. June 30, July 1, 2001

The 14-and-under New York Panthers Blue team won the CT Shock PONY National Qualifier for their third tourney championship of the season.

On Saturday, Nicole Losito earned the win during game one's 5-1 victory over the Connecticut Avalanche. The Panthers, then beat the New Jersey Rampage 8-4 as Christine Petridis won game two. Jennifer Pomponio was the winning pitcher in the Panthers 10-1 win over the Connecticut Hornets in the day's finale.

On Sunday, the Panthers defeated the Connecticut Eliminators 10-2 in the quarter-finals, then beat the Long Island Chargers 5-3 in the semis and took the championship by edging the Rhode Island Thunder 2-1 on Amalia DiTrapani's winning RBI single in the top of the seventh inning.

Christine Petrides, Dianna Ruddy earned wins in the first two games and Nicole Losito pitched a three hitter for the win in the championship game. Allison Castellucci picked up two saves. Allison Slattery (seven hits, seven runs), Losito (eight hits, eight RBI) and Kristine Knuth (six hits, seven runs) were the big hitters over the weekend while Tori Smith sparkled defensively.


Panther 14U Blue, Wins Second Pony Tournament

Blackwood, NJ, June 2 & 3, 2001
The Panther 14u Blue team won the South Jersey Bandits Summer Breakout Pony Qualifier tournament for their second tournament win of the season.
On Saturday the Panthers defeated the Jersey Firebirds 8-2 behind winning pitcher Kim Keshecki then lost to the Green Hornets from MD 3-0 to finish 1-1 on the day and tenth seed in a field of twenty teams.
On Sunday Kim Keshecki won two games including the Champion game against the Jersey Starfires 5-2. Nicole Losito won the semi-final game against the Indian Mills Mystics Red 3-0, who had won their four previous tournaments. Alyson Slattery provided the offense with a three run homer. Chris Petridis won the quarter final game5-2 against the Indian Mills Mystics Blue. The Panthers defeated the Terrors from PA 8-2 behind winning pitcher Kim Keshecki in the first game of the day.
On the day, Nicole Losito, 3 hits, 7 walks, Alyson Slattery 5 hits, 6 RBI, Kristine Knuth 4 hits 3 RBI, Kristin Brennan 4 hits, 3 runs scored provided the offense. Amalia DiTrapani, Jennifer Pomponio and Marianne Tepedino provided the team with excellent defensive plays. In addition, Tepedino had two big hits in the Championship game.


Panther 14U Blue, Wins Pony Qualifier

Belleville, NJ, April 28, 29 2001
The Panther 14u Blue team won the North Jersey Diamond Girl Classic fastpitch tournament, qualifying for the Pony Nationals to be held in Sterling Virginia this coming July.

Saturday, April 28, 2001:

The first game saw the Panthers beat the Sayreville Stingrays 4-0 behind the pitching of Allison Castellucci (two hits, nine strikeouts). Kristin Brennan (single, double, 2 RBI) provided the offense.
The Host team defeated the Panthers 5-3 in the second game but the Panthers bounced back and defeated the Clifton Cobras 9-2 in the third game behind pitcher Christine Petridis and some stella defense by the Panthers. Alyson Slattery collected three hits, while Jennifer Pomponio reached base four times and scored three runs.

Sunday, April 29, 2001:

The Panthers defeated the NJ Skylanders 7-1 in the first game of single elimination play. Winning pitcher Allison Castellucci (2 hits, 9 strikeouts) retired the first 13 batters before surrendering a single in the fifth inning. With the Panthers ahead 1-0 in the fifth, the Skylanders had runners on first and third and two outs, catcher Laura Meisner picked off the runner at third to end the threat, the next inning the Panthers platted six runs to put the game away and send the Panthers to the championship game. Kristin Brennan, 2 RBI, Christine Petridis, 2 RBI and Alyson Slattery, 2 runs scored, single and triple provided the offense.

In the championship game the Panthers defeated the Clifton Charmers 8-0 behind pitcher Nicole Losito. Losito helped her own cause with 2 RBI while Christine Petridis also platted two.
