Panther 14U Blue Squad, Cops Fourth Tournament

Indian Mills, NJ,  July 8 & 9, 2001
 
The NY Panthers 14 under Blue team won six of seven games over the weekend to win the Indian Mills Mystics Tournament, the fourth title the Blue squad has taken this year.
 Pitchers Kim Keshecki, Christine Petridis and Allison Castellucci each won two games, backed by Alyson Slattery (eight hits, five RBI), Kristine Knuth (seven hits) and Nicole Losito (five RBI).
 Diana Ruddy and Marianne Tepedino had key hits in the championship game and Jennifer Pomponio and Amalia DiTrapani sparkled defensively.

Panther 14U Blue, Wins Third Pony Tournament

ESSEX, Conn. June 30, July 1, 2001

The 14-and-under New York Panthers Blue team won the CT Shock PONY National Qualifier for their third tourney championship of the season.

On Saturday, Nicole Losito earned the win during game one's 5-1 victory over the Connecticut Avalanche. The Panthers, then beat the New Jersey Rampage 8-4 as Christine Petridis won game two. Jennifer Pomponio was the winning pitcher in the Panthers 10-1 win over the Connecticut Hornets in the day's finale.

On Sunday, the Panthers defeated the Connecticut Eliminators 10-2 in the quarter-finals, then beat the Long Island Chargers 5-3 in the semis and took the championship by edging the Rhode Island Thunder 2-1 on Amalia DiTrapani's winning RBI single in the top of the seventh inning.

Christine Petrides, Dianna Ruddy earned wins in the first two games and Nicole Losito pitched a three hitter for the win in the championship game. Allison Castellucci picked up two saves. Allison Slattery (seven hits, seven runs), Losito (eight hits, eight RBI) and Kristine Knuth (six hits, seven runs) were the big hitters over the weekend while Tori Smith sparkled defensively.

Panther Blue Finish 3rd

Sayreville, NJ, June 23, 24, 2001
The Panther 14u Blue team went 3-0 in the rained shortened Sayreville Stingray
Pony tournament.
Pitcher Kim Keshecki beat the Rockaway Rampage 8-1 and the Clifton Cobras 4-3, Nicole Losito beat the NJ Skylanders 7-2. Offense for the day was provided by Chris Petridis a 2 RBI triple and Amalia DiTrapani 2 hits 2 RBI , Alyson Slattery 5 runs, 4 RBI's, Kristin Brennan 3 hits, 4 runs and Kristine Knuth 3 hits, 2 runs.
Three teams finished with 3-0 records, the order in which the teams finished was decided by runs against.

Panther 14U Blue, Wins Pony Qualifier

Belleville, NJ, April 28, 29 2001
The Panther 14u Blue team won the North Jersey Diamond Girl Classic fastpitch tournament, qualifying for the Pony Nationals to be held in Sterling Virginia this coming July.

Saturday, April 28, 2001:

The first game saw the Panthers beat the Sayreville Stingrays 4-0 behind the pitching of Allison Castellucci (two hits, nine strikeouts). Kristin Brennan (single, double, 2 RBI) provided the offense.
The Host team defeated the Panthers 5-3 in the second game but the Panthers bounced back and defeated the Clifton Cobras 9-2 in the third game behind pitcher Christine Petridis and some stella defense by the Panthers. Alyson Slattery collected three hits, while Jennifer Pomponio reached base four times and scored three runs.

Sunday, April 29, 2001:

The Panthers defeated the NJ Skylanders 7-1 in the first game of single elimination play. Winning pitcher Allison Castellucci (2 hits, 9 strikeouts) retired the first 13 batters before surrendering a single in the fifth inning. With the Panthers ahead 1-0 in the fifth, the Skylanders had runners on first and third and two outs, catcher Laura Meisner picked off the runner at third to end the threat, the next inning the Panthers platted six runs to put the game away and send the Panthers to the championship game. Kristin Brennan, 2 RBI, Christine Petridis, 2 RBI and Alyson Slattery, 2 runs scored, single and triple provided the offense.

In the championship game the Panthers defeated the Clifton Charmers 8-0 behind pitcher Nicole Losito. Losito helped her own cause with 2 RBI while Christine Petridis also platted two.

Panther Blue Finish 2nd

Elizabeth, NJ, June 16, 17, 2001
The Panther 14u Blue team won three and lost one in an ASA Regional Qualifier.
Kim Keshecki won twice, no-hitting the NJ Hot Shots 6-0 and then two-hitting them 6-1.
Chris Petridis was the winning pitcher as the Panthers beat the Walden Blue Sox 9-0.
The Panthers lost to the Binghamton Rebels 2-1.
Kristin Brennan, 4hits, 3 RBI, 6 runs scored, Nicole Losito, 7 hits, 5 runs scored and Alyson Slattery, 7 hits, 5RBI and 7 runs scored provided the offense.
The Semi- Final game between the Rebels and Panthers was rained out as was the rest of the tourney. The final standings were:
1) Glen Falls (NY) Lady Bulldogs
2) Panthers
3) Binghamton (NY) Rebels

Panther Blue Finish 3rd

Jefferson, NJ, June 9, 10 2001
The Panther 14u Blue team won 2 of 3 games on Saturday in the NJ Halos Courtney Fund tourney. After losing the first game 4-3 to the PA Blue Devils the Panthers beat the LI Bandits Black 12-2 behind winning pitcher Kim Keshecki. The Panthers won the third game 5-3 against the Rockaway Rampage 6-5 in extra innings behind pitcher Nicole Losito. Amalia DiTrapani and Alyson Slattery made saved the game for the Panthers in the last inning with two great defense plays.
On Sunday the Panthers (4 seed) beat the North Jersey Diamond Girls 4-3 behind winning pitcher Nicole Losito (12K's.) Diana Ruddy pitched the semi final game against the #1 seed, LI Bandits Silver and lost 2-1. Ruddy pitched a great game giving up only one earned run. Kristin Brennan tied the game in the seventh wit a run scoring single with two outs. Offense for the weekend was provided by Kristine Knuth 6 hits, 6 runs scored, Alyson Slattery 8 hits, 5 RBI, Nicole Losito 5 hits, 6 RBI, Marianne Tepedino 4 hits, 5 runs scored, Diana Ruddy 4 hits, 2 RBI. Also on Sunday, Jennifer Pomponio sparkled on defense in right field.

Panther 14U White, Qualifies For Nationals

Lincroft, NJ, May 26 ,27 2001
The Panther 14u
White team won the Memorial Day Classic, qualifying for the Pony Nationals to be held in Sterling Virginia this coming July with a 3-0 record.
The Panthers blanked the Freehold Tornadoes White 8-0 behind Nicole Pignatelli's three-hit pitching, upended the Long Island Chargers 8-1 as Pignatelli allowed only four hits, and edged the Freehold Tornadoes Black 5-4 as Amanda Sosa smacked a two-run double with two outs in the seventh. Tara Ciccione had five hits, Amanda Grasso had for hits, and Amanda Sosa also had four hits on the day.
