Kebaya…is an evergreen traditional "blouse" of malay women made from sheer
material and usually worn with the sarong of colorful motives. Kebaya is
also synonymous with the women of Indonesia. The most popular in Indonesia
is the "Kebaya Bandung", which has a separate cloth as a "brigde" between
the kebaya.
The nyonya kebaya, was first created by the "peranakan" people of Malacca.
They used to wear it with sarong and very nice beaded shoes (kasut manek).
Today, kebaya nyonya is going through another revival era and it's becoming
even more popular among other races too.
Apart from the traditional kebayas, fashion designers are looking into way of modifying the design and making the kebaya a more fashionable and funky outfit anytime! The modified kebaya can be worn with jeans or skirts. It's sexy and yet has a touch of tradition to it. (This website is the backup of www.chantiqskaly.com)
