SummerSlam
INT. ARENA – NIGHT
MATCH: The PPV Squad vs. The Extremists
Justin Credible’s theme hits and he, Mike Awesome, Shawn Stasiak and Steven Richards all make their way to the ring.
JR: It’s now time for our eight-man tag here at SummerSlam. You see that ominous steel cage hovering above the ring? The man who gets pinned in this match, or is counted out, DQed or submits, will spend five minutes in it with the entire opposing team.
King: Those are some extreme stipulations, JR, and here come the guys who started this whole “extreme” feud, the Extremists! They definitely have singled out Croooooow as the guy they want to pin and beat up for five minutes.
JR: This all started with Justin Credible assaulting the Pyro Twins, and has escalated to this war between two factions. I shudder to think what these eight men have planned for each other tonight.
The PPV Squad theme hits and Croooooow, Cynric and the Pyro Twins make their way to the ring.
JR: This is a big night for the PPV Squad, and it starts here with Croooooow, Cynric, Dusty Schneble and Jay Rowe!
King: This could be a career-shortener. This is a regular tag match, but who knows at what point the tensions will boil over this match becomes extreme.
JR: Here we go!
The PPV Squad slides into the ring and a brawl erupts as the ref calls for the bell. Croooooow and Justin Credible do battle, while Cynric dukes it out with Steven Richards. Jay takes on Shawn Stasiak while Dusty trades blows with Mike Awesome. The PPV Squad get the better of the Extremists, except for Awesome, who hammers Dusty with forearms to the back. Jay comes over and attacks. They whip him into the ropes and take him down with a double flying shoulder tackle. Awesome rolls from the ring as the rest of the Extremists regroup. The Squad gets together and charges, delivering a quadruple clothesline. Croooooow scoop slams Stasiak as the rest of the participants go to their respective corners. He tries to drop a forearm, but Stasiak moves. He gets up and takes a swing at Croooooow, who ducks. Croooooow executes an atomic drop, followed by a neckbreaker. He covers and gets a one count. Croooooow tags Cynric and pushes Stasiak against the ropes. They whip him off the ropes and deliver a double sidewalk slam. Cynric picks Stasiak up and kicks him in the midsection. He bounces off the ropes and delivers a jumping roundhouse kick to Stasiak’s head. Stasiak staggers around, almost out on his feet, but when Cynric moves in he gets a thumb in the eye from Stasiak. Stasiak snapmares Cynric over, but Cynric rolls back and kicks up, catching Stasiak in the head. Cynric puts Stasiak in a standing headscissors and lifts him for a powerbomb, but instead throws him vertical into the corner. Stasiak goes down in pain, and Cynric tags Jay. Jay whips Stasiak into the ropes, but instead pulls him back in and catches him with a belly-to-belly suplex. He covers and gets a two count. He backs Stasiak into the corner and gives him some chops. He whips him into the opposite corner and charges, but Stasiak moves and Jay crashes into the turnbuckles. Stasiak tags Richards, who charges Jay. Jay takes him over with an armdrag and then a hiptoss. He gets a side headlock takeover, but Richards is soon back to his feet. He pushes Jay into the ropes, and sends him down with a shoulderblock. Richards bounces off the ropes, Jay drops down and then hits a spinning heel kick on the rebound. Jay tags Dusty and they whip Richards into the ropes. They take him down with a double leg trip and then bounce off opposite sides of the ring, delivering a double dropkick to the ribs. Dusty tries a fistdrop, but Richards moves and tags Awesome. Awesome charges and takes down Dusty with a hard clothesline. He picks Dusty up and throws him into his corner, tagging Credible. Awesome takes Dusty and whips him into a corner. Credible drops to all fours and Awesome charges and vaults off Credible’s back, sending Dusty down with a flying shoulder tackle. Dusty falls back in the corner and Credible grabs his legs, lifting him out of the corner into a sit out powerbomb. He gets a two count, but pushes Dusty away. He points at Croooooow before driving a knee into Dusty’s neck. He goes for That’s Incredible, but Dusty won’t allow himself to be lifted. Credible grabs him by the hair and tries a right hand, but Dusty ducks and executes a teardrop suplex. Dusty rolls over and tags Croooooow. Credible begs off, but Croooooow hits him with right hands. He whips him into the ropes and hits a running dropkick. He charges the enemy corner and hits a double dropkick, sending both Stasiak and Awesome to the floor. Croooooow rolls backwards and charges Richards, taking a swing, but he drops to the floor to avoid him. As Croooooow yells at Richards, Credible sets up for a superkick. Croooooow turns around just in time and ducks the superkick, connecting with one of his own. He whips Credible front first into the turnbuckles and then executes a tiger buster as he staggers out. He covers, but Richards comes in and makes the save before scurrying from the ring again.
Croooooow loses his temper and attacks Richards in the corner, but Credible forearms him from behind and Awesome and Stasiak join in. Credible tags Awesome, who whips Croooooow into the ropes. He catches him with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. He picks Croooooow up and taunts the rest of the PPV Squad. He delivers a powerbomb and covers for a two count. He tags Stasiak, who comes in to stomp on Croooooow. He gives him a vertical suplex and then talks to the voices in his head instead of going for the cover. He picks up Croooooow and whips him into the ropes. Croooooow ducks a clothesline and both men go for a high cross body. They lay in the ring for a few moments and then crawl toward their corners. Stasiak tags Richards, who tries to grab Croooooow’s leg, but Croooooow tags Cynric. Cynric comes in and clotheslines Richards. Richards gets up only to get clotheslined again. He bounces off the ropes and delivers a rolling koppo kick to Richards. He covers, but Richards kicks out at two. He picks up Richards and tries to whip him into the corner, but Richards reverses. He catches Cynric with a clothesline as he staggers out and then chokes him on the mat. He picks him up and backs him against the ropes, giving him some knife-edge chops. He whips Cynric into the ropes and puts his head down. Cynric counters with the Shock Cannon and goes for the cover. Credible runs in to break it up, which brings in Croooooow, which brings in the Pyro Twins and Awesome and Stasiak. Another brawl erupts, and Credible gets clotheslined over the top rope to the floor. Richards charges Croooooow, but Croooooow and Dusty give him a double drop toehold. Cynric puts Richards in a modified camel clutch, and almost immediately Jay comes off the second rope, driving an elbow into Richards’s head. Cynric covers, but Awesome picks up the ref in mid count and gives him a hard clothesline, knocking him out. The eight participants hesitate for a moment, but then they all exit the ring and look for their weapons. Awesome throws the stairs into the ring and then sets up a table on the outside. Stasiak and Richards bring in chairs, while Croooooow gets a baseball bat and Cynric gets his bo. Credible brings in his kendo stick as the Pyro Twins slide two tables into the ring. Stasiak charges Croooooow, who swings his bat and hits the chair back into Stasiak’s face, knocking him down. Cynric and Credible engage in an impromptu duel, while the Pyro Twins hit Richards over the head with the table and then set it up.
Awesome ambushes the Pyro Twins with a double clothesline. He picks up Jay and tries to give him a running Awesome Bomb through the table on the outside, but Dusty pulls Jay off and Croooooow hits Awesome in the midsection with his bat. Dusty lifts Awesome for a powerbomb, with some help from Jay, and they powerbomb him over the top rope and through the table. Cynric finally takes down Credible and drops his bo. As Stasiak gets to his feet, chair in hand, Cynric hits the Lift Off, driving the chair into Stasiak’s face again. Cynric holds his knee in pain as Stasiak slides out of the ring, unconscious. At the same time, Richards comes to and hits the Steven Kick on Jay, only to turn around and get bashed over the head with a chair by Dusty. Awesome gets back up and takes down Dusty with a slingshot shoulderblock from the apron. He gets up, but Croooooow comes off the top rope with a double axehandle, using the bat instead of his fists. Awesome falls to his back, unconscious. Croooooow gets whacked from behind from Credible’s kendo stick, but Jay hits him with the Overhaul. He signals to Dusty, who pulls out some lighter fluid and matches, igniting the table. Jay lifts Credible to his feet and then gives him a spinebuster through the flaming table. Credible rolls from the ring in pain, and Richards charges only to be shoved front first into the turnbuckles. He staggers out and the Pyro Twins hit Final Darkness, dropping Richards onto a chair. Cynric crawls over and covers as the ref comes to and he gets the three count.
Winners: The PPV Squad at 11:08
JR: What a battle that was, but the PPV Squad has emerged victorious!
King: What a farce, JR! They couldn’t just wrestle a normal match. They had to use flaming tables and chairs, and who knows what else to win.
JR: All eight men went for the weaponry, King, and you know what comes now.
The cage music hits and the cage is lowered to contain Richards and the PPV Squad.
The Squad waits until the bell rings to start the five minutes. Cynric and Jay take turns dealing out right hands to Richards and then turn him around to face Croooooow, who is crouched on the opposite side of the ring. Croooooow charges and spears him to the ground, pounding him with rights. He picks Richards up and whips him into the ropes. Dusty is there, and hits the Rope Burn. Richards staggers backwards to get a roundhouse kick to the head from Cynric, sending him down. Croooooow tells the Pyro Twins to set up the last table, and they do so. Croooooow places Richards on the ring steps and gives him some more right hands. Credible and Stasiak try to climb into the cage to intefere, but Jay and Cynric grab a chair and a bo. Jay hits Stasiak’s fingers with the chair, causing him to drop, and Cynric jabs the bo through the mesh fence and into Credible’s sternum, causing him to let go. Croooooow gets on the steps with Richards, but Richards suddenly rakes the eyes and starts hammering Croooooow with rights. He looks at the table and decides to powerbomb him through it, but Dusty suddenly blasts a fireball into his face. Richards holds his face, and Croooooow lifts him, executing a Demon Driver from the stairs and through the table. He gets up and celebrates with the rest of the Squad as his theme plays.
JR: I guess the PPV Squad felt that was enough, and they have certainly made their point.
King: Poor Steven Richards! He’s going to be sore for the next year because of this.
JR: Croooooow wanted to catch up to Richards, and he bided his time and found the perfect opportunity here at SummerSlam.
INT. ARENA – NIGHT
MATCH: Nykk vs. Eddie Guerrero
Eddie Guerrero’s theme hits and he makes his way to the ring.
JR: In what will no doubt be a classic encounter, here we go with our unification match. Two out of three falls to unite the European and Intercontinental Titles.
King: And here comes the Intercontinental Champion now. Latino Heat!
JR: Eddie Guerrero has been the Intercontinental Champion since April, when he won it at Backlash. He may be ripe for the picking tonight in this two out of three falls match. Any decision can win a fall, and there will be fifteen second rest periods in between each fall.
Nykk’s theme hits and he makes his way to the ring.
King: And here comes our European Champion, Nykk!
JR: Nykk has been through a roller coaster of emotions in recent weeks, but seems to have gotten his confidence back with his title win over Jeff Hardy on Monday. He knows that Guerrero has pinned him back to back at our last two PPVs, first in the Fatal Four Way at King of the Ring and then in an Intercontinental Title match at Vengeance.
King: Even if Nykk’s head is in the right place, I still don’t think he stands a chance against the likes of Eddie Guerrero.
As he’s walking down the ramp, Nykk feeds off the energy of the crowd and tells them to pump up the volume. He then charges and slides into the ring as the bell rings. Eddie Guerrero gives him a right hand, but Nykk blocks and hits a couple of his own. He backs Eddie into the ropes and whips him to the opposite side. He goes for his running leg lariat, but Eddie rolls through and Nykk crashes to the mat. Eddie tries to drop a quick elbow, but Nykk moves. He grabs Guerrero and throws him into the ropes, but Guerrero reverses. He tries a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, but Nykk lands on his feet. He tries a clothesline, but Eddie ducks and whips him into the corner. Nykk reverses and charges, but Eddie gets his feet up, sending Nykk down to one knee. Eddie puts him in a front facelock and tries a tornado DDT, but Nykk counters with a northern lights suplex attempt. However, Eddie slides down Nykk’s back and executes a sunset flip. He gets a one count before Nykk kicks him in the face. Both men get to their feet and have a stand off. They take a moment to size each other up and then circle. They lock up, and Guerrero gets a go-behind into a waistlock. Nykk breaks his grip and reverses into one of his own. Eddie drops to a knee and takes Nykk over into a pin, but only gets a one count when Nykk counters into a head scissors. Guerrero twists around and turns over, straddling himself across Nykk’s chest. Nykk bridges up and turns Eddie over into a standing head scissors. He goes for a powerbomb, but Eddie counters with a hurricanrana and hooks a leg to get a two count. Both men get up and Nykk sweeps Eddie’s leg with his arm, taking him down and covering for a one count. Eddie gets right back up and Nykk hits an armdrag and holds on for the armbar. Eddie trips Nykk with his free hand. Nykk goes down but still holds onto the armbar. Eddie twists around and breaks the hold and grabs Nykk’s legs wheelbarrow style. He drops down for a cover, but Nykk takes him over with a victory roll for a two count. Eddie gets a shoulder up and turns Nykk over to his stomach. Eddie somersaults over Nykk’s legs and applies a headlock. Nykk gets to his feet and lifts Eddie for a back suplex. However, Eddie holds on and takes Nykk over with a side headlock takeover. Nykk counters with a head scissors and Eddie kicks out of it. They get to their feet and Eddie ducks behind Nykk, getting the waistlock. Nykk sits out and spins behind Guerrero, tripping his feet. Nykk applies a headlock on the mat, but Eddie counters into a hammerlock. Nykk makes it to his feet and reaches behind to grab Guerrero’s head. He tries to flip over Eddie, but is too heavy to do so and instead takes Eddie over with a snapmare. Eddie rolls right back to his feet and charges. Nykk takes him over with a body scissors and lets up. Eddie gets back to his feet, but Nykk is quicker and dropkicks the knee.
Eddie goes down and holds his knee in pain. Nykk kicks at the knee a couple of times and then drives his own knee into Guerrero’s, pulling up on the lower portion of the leg. He stands up and goes for the Bellbrookville Cedarleaf, but Eddie kicks him in the midsection. He takes Nykk over with an inside cradle and gets a two count, and Nykk gets back to his feet and charges. Eddie drops down and then hits his running leg lariat as Nykk comes off the ropes. Eddie tests out his knee to make sure it’s okay, and then stomps on Nykk’s head. He grabs Nykk by the hair and gives him some forearms and some elbows to the back of the head. He then whips Nykk into the ropes and hits standing enzugiri to the back of the head. He covers and gets a two count. He picks Nykk up and drives a knee into his midsection. He executes a snap suplex and then goes to the apron. He hits his flying hilo and yells at the crowd. He picks Nykk up and gives him a scoop slam, following it up by stomping on his face and spinning around, grinding his boot into Nykk’s nose. Nykk staggers to his feet and Eddie goes for a brainbuster, but Nykk escapes and rolls Guerrero up for two. He whips Guerrero into the ropes, but it’s reversed. Nykk ducks a clothesline and Eddie bounces off the ropes. Nykk puts his head down, but Eddie does a reverse somersault over Nykk and then jumps on top of him, ending up on Nykk’s shoulders. Nykk stands up and then slams Guerrero face first into the mat. He rolls forward onto Guerrero’s back and hooks him by the ankles. He puts his own ankles under Guerrero’s arms and behind his head. He then turns over and has Eddie in a pinning predicament. He gets a two count, but Eddie gets a shoulder up. His shoulder goes back down, and Nykk gets a one count this time. Eddie twists and turns and manages to free a shoulder. He hooks Nykk’s leg and turns him back over, applying a half Boston crab. He stands up to apply more pressure, but Nykk escapes and kicks Guerrero away. He rolls backwards and then dives forward to catch Guerrero in the midsection with his shoulder. However, Nykk’s shoulder gives out from the blow and he writhes in the mat in pain. Eddie takes the opportunity to go to the top rope, but when he gets there Nykk suddenly kips up and nails Guerrero with a right hand. He then crotches Guerrero and goes up for a superplex. Eddie knees him in the face and then hooks him, delivering a tornado DDT from the top rope. He covers and gets a close two count. He picks him up and whips him into the ropes, but Nykk reverses. He pulls Guerrero in and goes behind to get the waistlock, but Eddie counters into a standing half nelson, pulls Nykk around and lifts him, dropping him throat first across the top rope. Nykk falls to the mat and Eddie goes to the top rope quickly. He hits the frog splash and gets the three count.
Winner of the First Fall: Eddie Guerrero at 10:05
JR: The canny veteran, Eddie Guerrero, has taken the first fall.
King: It’s like I said, JR. Nykk just doesn’t stand a chance against this kind of wrestling machine.
JR: It’s still anybody’s ball game here, King. Nykk has a chance to make it up, though with the first fall all said and done, Guerrero has the psychological and physical advantage.
Eddie poses for the crowd and moves in toward Nykk, but the ref stops him. When the fifteen second rest period ends, the bell rings again. Nykk is still on his knees catching his breath, and Eddie moves in and kicks him in the ribs. He connects with some more forearms to Nykk’s head and then whips him into the corner. Nykk hits the turnbuckles hard and staggers out to receive another kick to the ribs from Guerrero. He doubles over, and Eddie executes a back suplex. He covers and gets a two count. Guerrero drives a knee into Nykk’s back and then applies a chinlock while grinding his knee into the small of the back. He then drives his knee into the small of the back again and picks Nykk up. He snapmares him over and then applies a modified head scissors. After about thirty seconds, Nykk manages to turn Eddie over and rolls over, escaping from the hold. He turns back around and applies an Indian deathlock to Guerrero’s already crossed legs. Eddie screams in pain and scrambles to the ropes, making it there after a few moments. Nykk relinquishes the hold and moves in, but the ref tries to hold him back as Guerrero is still in the ropes. Eddie sees the opportunity and gives Nykk a low blow. Nykk falls to the mat, and Eddie catches his breath while the ref questions him. He denies everything and picks Nykk up. He whips him into the ropes, but puts his head down. He bounces off the ropes and goes for a flying headscissors, but Nykk counters into a backbreaker. Nykk hits a kneedrop and covers for a two count. He picks Eddie up, but Guerrero rakes the eyes. He whips Nykk into the ropes, but it’s reversed. Nykk pulls Eddie in instead and kicks him in the midsection. He bounces off the ropes and hits a half nelson bulldog. Nykk then points to the sky and goes to the top rope. As he gets there, Eddie gets to his feet and nails Nykk with a right hand. Eddie goes up looking for a superplex, and they duke it out on the top rope. Eddie gets his head trapped under Nykk, and Nykk goes for a top rope powerbomb. Eddie tries to counter into a DDT in midair again, but Nykk recounters into a sit out spinebuster, planting Guerrero. He gets a very close two count, and then gets up, immediately going for the Cedarleaf. Eddie puts up a bit of resistance, but Nykk turns him over. Before Eddie can tap, Chris Benoit runs in from the crowd and nails Nykk from behind with a forearm, breaking the hold. The ref calls for the bell as Benoit goes to work on Nykk. He applies the Crippler Crossface and Nykk taps. Eddie also lays in some kicks to Nykk once he gets up.
Winner of the Second Fall: Nykk at 5:33
JR: We have a disqualification here. Benoit just cost Eddie Guerrero the second fall, King!
King: He didn’t cost him the fall. Eddie would have had to tap to Nykk’s Bellbrookville Cedarleaf, so Benoit attacked Nykk to weaken him for the next fall and at the same time save Guerrero’s pride.
JR: Wait a minute!
Croooooow charges down to the ring and slides in, tackling Benoit. They go outside the ring, trading blows all the way to the back.
JR: Croooooow just saved Nykk from Benoit, but I think the damage has been done.
The bell for the third fall rings with Nykk in a heap on the mat. Eddie stomps on Nykk some more, and then applies a bow and arrow. He lets up after a few moments and picks Nykk up. He shoves him down against the ropes and taunts him by slapping him a few times. He ties Nykk up between the middle and bottom ropes, and then bounces off the opposite side, connecting with a running dropkick to Nykk’s ribs. The ref frees Nykk and Eddie picks him up. He tries a short arm clothesline, but Nykk ducks behind Eddie and executes a dragon suplex with a bridge. However, at two he releases the pin because his ribs can’t take the strain. He picks Guerrero up and scoops him, but Eddie escapes and hits a reverse DDT. He goes to the top rope, but takes too much time and Nykk hits a jumping forearm to Guerrero’s midsection. Nykk goes up and hits a superplex from the top. Both men are out, and the ref starts the ten count. At eight, Eddie is back to his feet, followed by Nykk. He tries a right hand, but Nykk blocks and hits a few rights of his own. Eddie answers with a chop, but Nykk hits a chop of his own. Eddie hits another chop and whips Nykk into the corner. Nykk reverses and charges, but Eddie tips up. Nykk catches him and backs up a bit. He runs and jumps to the second turnbuckle with Eddie on his shoulders, immediately leaping off and planting Guerrero with a powerslam in the middle of the ring. He covers and gets a close two count. Eddie gets to his feet and Nykk whips him into the ropes. He lifts him in a military press and then drops him into his arms, hitting a snap fallaway slam. He goes to the second rope and waits for Eddie to get up. He then hits a missile dropkick and covers for another two count. He picks Eddie up again, but Eddie headbutts him in the ribs. Nykk doubles over, and Eddie goes for a brainbuster. Nykk escapes and lifts Guerrero, hitting Crimson Moon. He covers, but Guerrero is too close to the ropes and gets a foot on the bottom rope. Nykk picks him up and goes for Howling Moon I, but Guerrero lands on his feet and spins Nykk around, finally lifting him and delivering the brainbuster. He goes to the top rope to attempt another frog splash. He signals that this is the end and jumps, but Nykk moves and Eddie crashes to the mat. He gets up, holding his ribs in pain and Nykk executes a German suplex into a roll up for the three count.
Winner of the Third Fall: Nykk at 6:10
Winner: Nykk at 22:27
JR: Nykk has done it! All the months of work have finally paid off, and we have a new unified Intercontinental Champion!
King: I can’t believe it! Nykk is the last Eurocontinental Champion ever!
Nykk gets to his feet in pain and is awarded both belts by the ref. The entire PPV Squad comes out as Nykk holds up both belts, and Nykk embraces everyone.
JR: What a moment for the PPV Squad, and what a moment for their leader. Eddie Guerrero has nothing to be ashamed about, because that was a match that will go down in SummerSlam history as perhaps one of the most competitive ever. And how appropriate that he wins the biggest match of his life in a twenty-minute classic.
