Heat

INT. PROMO SET - NIGHT

Lillian Garcia is standing by with Edge.

Lillian: Edge, tonight is the night, in front of your friends and family, in your hometown, at the biggest show of the year, that you get your chance to exact revenge on the man who nearly crippled you. Of course, that being the leader of the PPV Squad, Nykk.

Edge: Wow, Lillian, way to put the pressure on me. I mean, how does one go about fighting the mighty Nykk? I mean, he's the guy who needed help from his friends to beat Billy Gunn in his first match had the crap beat out of him by the Big Show and last month was pinned by Jeff Hardy to lose his and Croooooow's tag team titles. He's the same guy who attacked me when I was down and beaten and nearly broke my neck. After all that it would just break his little heart to know that I beat him in the middle of the ring at WrestleMania. Should I be frightened of him? Nykk, tonight I make a promise. You will feel the pain you inflicted on me and those closest to me. You will feel the uncertainty that you inflicted on us, and you will feel that "edge" between active and done. And Nykk asks where would I be if he had been accepted? I am where I was, Lillian. Nothing Nykk ever did has changed that. Nykk, a broken neck is a very bad thing. But a broken heart is worse and tonight that's the part of you that I will break, as well as any other body part that stands in my way.

Edge leaves the set.

INT. ARENA - NIGHT

MATCH: The Pyro Twins vs. Scotty 2 Hotty & Albert

Scotty 2 Hotty's theme hits and he and Albert dance their way to the ring.

JR: WrestleMania X-8 is just a few minutes away, ladies and gentlemen! Hello everyone, I'm Jim Ross alongside Jerry "The King" Lawler and we are getting set for quite possibly the biggest WrestleMania ever. Chris Jericho defends his Undisputed Championship against Triple H, and the fantasy match no one thought they would ever see, Hollywood Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock.

King: But right now we're getting set for Scotty 2 Hotty and the Hip Hop Hippo Albert!

The Pyro Twins' theme hits and Jay and Dusty make their way to the ring.

JR: And how apropos that here on a show called Heat we have these two individuals.

King: It's the Pyro Twins. They're obsessed with fire, JR. It may not be safe out here seeing the mood that they look to be in.

JR: Jay Rowe and Dusty Schneble, the Pyro Twins part of the PPV Squad, but this match here isn't anything Nykk ordered them to do. They were upset that they weren't on the WrestleMania card, so Albert challenged them to a little tag match right here on Heat!

As the Pyro Twins and Scotty and Albert decide who's going to start the match, the bell rings. Dusty and Scotty get out of the ring, leaving Jay and Albert. They lock up, and Albert throws Jay to the ground with ease. Jay gets up and charges, but gets piefaced to the ground again. He gets up and charges again, but gets beeled across the ring. Albert follows up with a kick to the midsection and then bounces off the ropes to deliver a clothesline. He bounces off the ropes, and Jay drops down.

As Albert bounces off the opposite side, Dusty comes in and they give Albert a double leg trip. As he gets to all fours, the Pyro Twins bounce off opposite sides of the ring and deliver simultaneous dropkicks to Albert's rib cage. Dusty gets out of the ring and Jay tags him. Dusty comes in and kicks Albert in the midsection.

He whips Albert into the ropes, but Albert reverses and nails a bicycle kick that sends Dusty down. He picks Dusty up and holds him, tagging Scotty. Scotty gives Dusty an uppercut to the ribs and then follows up with three right hands. He kicks Dusty in the midsection, doubling him over. He then bounces off the ropes and delivers a somersault kick to the back of Dusty's head, sending him down. He covers, but gets only a one count.

He whips Dusty into the corner and charges, but receives both of Dusty's feet in the face. As he turns around in pain, Dusty charges and delivers a running bulldog. He tags Jay, who comes in and stomps on Scotty. He picks him up and executes a belly-to-belly suplex. He tags Dusty, who goes to the top rope. They execute the Mandate of Heaven on Scotty, and Dusty covers. Scotty kicks out at two.

Dusty goes for the Rope Burn, but Scotty somersaults over Dusty's back as he picks him up and executes a sunset flip for a two count. They both get up and Scotty ducks a clothesline, running over to tag Albert. Albert runs in and clotheslines Dusty. Jay comes in and also gets a clothesline. He tries a Baldo Bomb on Dusty, but Jay breaks it up, prompting Scotty to come back in. Albert whips Dusty into the turnbuckles as Scotty clotheslines Jay over the top rope. Scotty hops on Albert's back and they charge and squish Dusty with an avalanche. As Dusty staggers out, Scotty hits the bulldog and sets up for the Worm. He executes it successfully, and Dusty rolls out of the ring.

Albert goes out after him, but Scotty backs up right into the Overhaul from Jay. Albert comes back in and whips Jay into the corner. He charges again, but Jay moves and Albert crashes front first into the corner. He staggers out backwards and the Pyro Twins execute Final Darkness. Albert goes down and Dusty covers to get the three count.

Winners: The Pyro Twins at 3:54

JR: The Pyro Twins with the victory here at the Skydome. Scotty and Albert put up a hell of a fight, but they were no match for Final Darkness in the end.

King: Let me tell you, JR, they hit that out of nowhere. That may be the most devastating double team move this side of the 3D.

JR: Despite their past antics, the Pyro Twins have proven lately that they may indeed be ready for a run at the tag team titles.

WrestleMania

INT. ARENA - NIGHT

MATCH: Cynric, Goldcake and Huh vs. Val Venis, Al Snow and Maven

The PPV Squad theme hits and Cynric, Huh and Goldcake make their way to the ring. Huh dances all the way down the aisle.

JR: What a way to start off the Showcase of the Immortals than with a six-man tag! This is WrestleMania X-8!

King: And look at Huh! He looks psyched.

JR: Cynric, Huh and Goldcake will represent the PPV Squad contingent in this match. They will be facing Val Venis, Maven and Al Snow. This match came about because the PPV Squad have been pissing off so many people lately that this was a nice way for the opponents to round three of them up in one fight.

Maven's theme hits and he makes his way down the ramp.

JR: Living proof that dreams come true, it's the first-ever Tough Enough winner Maven! A year ago he was a school teacher, and now he's got a match at WrestleMania!

King: Look at him wait on the ramp though. He isn't about to get in the ring with three PPV Squad members.

Al Snow's theme hits and he makes his way to the ring.

JR: And here comes Maven's mentor Al Snow. Al, of course, was heavily involved in the first Tough Enough, and also the second. And he's here to back up his pupil and friend Maven.

Val Venis's theme hits and he makes his way down the ramp.

JR: And to round out the opposition, here's a hometown boy. Val Venis, of course, grew up around Toronto and he's looking for a victory here at WrestleMania.

King: But we don't know if he's one hundred percent. You saw what Cynric, Huh and Goldcake did to him on Smackdown.

JR: Indeed, Val was the victim of a vicious attack after Goldcake lured him out into the parking lot by insulting his uh manliness.

King: And here we go!

Val, Al and Maven charge the ring and a brawl erupts. Cynric dukes it out with Al while Val pummels Goldcake and Maven clotheslines Huh over the top rope. Goldcake ducks out of the ring and Al and Maven get in their corner, leaving Cynric and Val to start off. They lock up with Val getting the go-behind and a waistlock. Cynric reverses it and tries for a German suplex, but Val blocks and counters into a victory roll that only gets a one count. Cynric gets to his feet and is pelted by three right hands from Val.

He whips Cynric into the ropes, but Cynric reverses and hits a spinning heel kick on the rebound. He tags Huh, who comes in and immediately starts dancing, turning his back to Val. He turns around finally and gets clotheslined by Val.

Val executes a scoop slam and then drops an elbow, bouncing off the ropes and delivering another elbow. He covers and gets a two count. He picks Huh up and tags Al. Al takes Huh and gives him a standing dropkick.

He whips him into the corner, but Huh reverses and charges, avalanching Al. He executes a snapmare and starts dancing again. Goldcake orders him to tag and so he tags Goldcake.

Goldcake charges Al, but Al hits a drop toehold. Goldcake gets up and receives a northern lights suplex from Al for a two count. Al tags Maven, who waits for Goldcake to get up and then bounces off the ropes. He hits a clothesline and waits for Goldcake to get up before delivering another one. Goldcake begs off and backs into his corner, but Maven moves in and Goldcake tags Cynric behind his back.

Maven beels Goldcake out of the corner, but Cynric hits a superkick from behind, knocking Maven flat. He picks Maven up and gives him a front suplex. As Maven gets to his knees, Cynric bounces off the ropes and hits a rolling koppo kick. He tags Goldcake and they give him a double DDT. Goldcake covers but only gets a two count. Goldcake picks him up and kicks him in the midsection.

He tags Huh and they try a double back suplex, but Maven rolls backwards and escapes, landing on his feet. He bounces off the ropes, ducks a double clothesline and hits a flying double clothesline on the rebound. Maven crawls toward his corner and finally tags Val. Val comes in with right hands on Goldcake and Huh, sending them down. He clotheslines Goldcake over the top rope and ducks as Huh tries a double axehandle from behind, sending him into the turnbuckles. Val whips him into the ropes and holds onto his hand, pulling him in for a knee to the midsection. He does it off the other side and then hits a Russian leg sweep. He tags Al, who goes up to the top rope and hits a guillotine legdrop.

He covers, but Cynric comes in and stomps on Al to stop the count. Val takes out Cynric with some forearms as Maven and Goldcake get back in and brawl. Cynric back drops Val and is able to score with the Lift Off, but the ref pulls him off as he covers because neither of them are legal.

As Cynric argues with the ref, Maven dropkicks Cynric, who goes over the top rope and to the floor. As he celebrates, Huh forearms him from behind and starts to dance. As he turns around, Al kicks him in the midsection and executes the Snow Plow. He tags Maven, who goes up top and hits a moonsault on Huh. The ref runs over and makes the three count.

Winners: Val Venis, Al Snow and Maven at 5:27

JR: What a win for the team of Al Snow, Maven and Val Venis!

King: Huh was having a good time dancing, but it cost his team the match.

JR: It looks like this match proves it's better to have a rookie on your team than an idiot. Huh received the Snow Plow and a moonsault and that's all it took.

Val, Al and Maven celebrate in the ring while Goldcake and Cynric take turns whapping Huh upside the head in the aisle.

INT. ARENA - NIGHT

MATCH: Croooooow vs. Diamond Dallas Page

Croooooow's theme hits and he makes his way to the ring.

JR: This next match, ladies and gentlemen, will be for the WWF European Championship!

King: And here comes the challenger right now. It's Croooooow!

JR: Croooooow, representing the PPV Squad, has a huge opportunity tonight in his first WrestleMania appearance. We all saw him win tag team gold with Nykk last December, but now he has a chance to carve a niche for himself in the singles division.

DDP's theme hits and Diamond Dallas Page makes his way to the ring.

JR: Here comes Diamond Dallas Page, the reigning European Champion.

King: Page is always a positive guy, but he's all smiles tonight, isn't he?

JR: DDP has dreamed of competing at a WrestleMania for a long time. He appeared in this very building at WrestleMania VI as the driver of Rhythm & Blues' Cadillac. It took him another twelve years to get a match at WrestleMania, but here he is defending the European Title.

As DDP steps into the ring, Croooooow attacks him. He hammers him with some forearms to the back and then rips off Page's jacket. He gives him three right hands and then whips him into the ropes. He catches DDP with a spinebuster but immediately holds his chest in pain and backs up into the ropes because DDP still has the European belt around his waist.

DDP gets up and takes off the belt. He moves in on Croooooow, hitting him with some rights. Croooooow responds with a kick to the midsection and drops to the mat, rolling out of the ring. He yells at some fans as Page bounces off the ropes and turns around to receive a baseball slide. Croooooow goes down and DDP slides to the outside. He picks Croooooow up and nails him with a hard right hand. Croooooow staggers away from DDP, who keeps hitting him with rights. Croooooow stops to lean on the Spanish announcing table and DDP rams his head into the table. He throws Croooooow back in the ring and slides in. He whips Croooooow into the ropes and hits a spinebuster of his own. He picks Croooooow up, and Croooooow takes a wild swing, but DDP ducks and hits a back suplex.

He goes for a belly-to-belly suplex, but Croooooow headbutts him twice, forcing him to release the waistlock. Croooooow hooks his arms and delivers a reverse tiger suplex. He covers but only gets a two count. He picks DDP up and puts him in the corner, giving him some European uppercuts. DDP tries a kick, but Croooooow catches the foot and delivers a dragon screw legwhip out of the corner. He kicks at the leg and then applies a leg grapevine. After about ten seconds, DDP makes it to the ropes. Croooooow release the hold and DDP struggles to his feet, with Croooooow kicking at the knee. He whips Page into the ropes, but DDP reverses. He goes for a clothesline, but Croooooow blocks it and hits a hangman's neckbreaker. He applies a reverse chinlock, but DDP fights his way to his feet after a few moments. He elbows Croooooow in the midsection until he releases the hold and then bounces off the ropes. Both guys get the same idea and hit a double clothesline, sending both of them down. The ref starts to count, but they both get to their feet by the time he reaches seven.

Croooooow tries a right, but DDP blocks it and connects with one of his own. He connects with three more and then goes for the Diamond Cutter, but Croooooow pushes him into the ropes. DDP hits a high cross body and gets a two count. He hits a vertical suplex and then drops an elbow on Croooooow. He covers again but only gets a two count. He gets up and signals for the Diamond Cutter. He picks Croooooow up and whips him into the corner.

As Croooooow staggers out, DDP bounces off the ropes to deliver the move, but Croooooow ducks and then picks DDP up for the Demon Driver as he turns back around. Before he can deliver that move, DDP pushes off his back and pushes Croooooow into the ref, who takes a hard bump to the canvas.

As Croooooow turns around, DDP nails the Diamond Cutter. As he makes the cover, Cynric runs down to ringside with a steel chair.

He gets in the ring and nails DDP across the back with it. As DDP gets up while holding his back in pain, Cynric nails him over the head, knocking him out. Cynric gets out of the ring as Croooooow and the ref start to stir. Croooooow gets to his feet and as DDP starts to stir, he locks in the Carrion Stretch. After a few moments, DDP taps out and the ref calls for the bell.

Winner: Croooooow at 8:18

JR: Give me a break. Croooooow wins after a heavy assist from his older brother Cynric.

King: But nonetheless we have a new European Champion. It's Croooooow!

JR: Croooooow picks up the win here at WrestleMania X-8, but I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't seen the last of DDP.

Croooooow and Cynric hug and then Croooooow holds up the European belt.

INT. LOCKER ROOM - NIGHT

Nykk is lacing up his wrestling boots as Croooooow walks in with the European title belt.

Croooooow: (excited) Did you see that?

Nykk: Yeah, I saw that. Way to go, man.

Croooooow: PPV Squad's first singles gold, baby! So are you ready for your match with Edge?

Nykk: Oh yeah. I'm ready to show him what "twenty minute classic" style is all about. Matter of fact, I'm going to beat his ass right now.

Nykk gets up.

Croooooow: Great. Let's go.

Nykk: Uh thanks for the offer, but I'm going to have to pass.

Croooooow: What?

Nykk: Look, I know you'd be there for me in a heartbeat if I needed you and vice versa. Hell, that's why we were tag team champions. But this is WrestleMania, the biggest wrestling show in history. And if I'm going to do this, I'll do it by myself.

Croooooow looks puzzled, but they do the PPV Squad handshake.

Croooooow: Dangan. You go get him.

Nykk leaves the locker room.

Croooooow: He's all yours!

INT. ARENA - NIGHT

MATCH: Nykk vs. Edge

Nykk's theme hits and he makes his way to the ring.

JR: It looks like the time for talking is done for Nykk. He's on his way to the ring to go one on one with Edge.

King: And he's all by himself, JR.

JR: Yes, he turned down an offer from Croooooow to accompany him to ringside. I think he realizes that this is WrestleMania, the Showcase of the Immortals, and now is the time to shut up and put up.

Edge's theme hits and he makes his way to the ring.

JR: And here comes the opponent, who was nearly crippled by Nykk back in January! Edge is on his way to the ring!

King: Edge is looking for some revenge for sure. But he better not take his mind off the task at hand, even if this is his hometown.

JR: Certainly Nykk has proven himself to be a dangerous individual, even by himself. If Edge is concentrating on beating the hell out of Nykk for his friends and family, he will lose, no question about it. And boy wouldn't Nykk just love that.

Edge slides into the ring and charges Nykk, who jumps to the floor through the second rope.

JR: No, Edge, don't go after him. That's how he gets you. Don't let your heart override your head.

Nykk invites Edge to come out after him, but Edge stays in the ring. Nykk gets in the ring and the bell rings. They circle each other for a moment and then Nykk tells Edge to come in and throw the first punch. Edge simply waits, and then they lock up. Nykk applies a side headlock to Edge, cranking it up on Edge's skull. Edge tries to fight out of it for a moment and then backs into the ropes, throwing Nykk off. Nykk bounces off the opposite side and Edge leapfrogs and hits a spinning heel kick on the rebound, sending Nykk down. They get up and Edge hits Nykk with three right hands, backing him into the corner. Edge rams his shoulder into Nykk's midsection twice and then whips him into the opposite corner. Nykk reverses and tries a reverse elbow as Edge staggers out. Edge ducks and sends Nykk down with a clothesline. Nykk gets up and swings, but Edge ducks and executes an atomic drop. Nykk turns around in pain and receives an inverted atomic drop. Edge bounces off the ropes and hits another clothesline. He covers, but only gets a two count. He pounds on Nykk's head until the ref pulls him off. Edge picks Nykk up and whips him into the ropes, but Nykk reverses.

He hits a drop toehold on Edge and segues into a front face lock. Edge counters into a hammerlock, but Nykk sits out and takes Edge over with a modified fireman's carry.

They both get to their feet and Edge takes Nykk over with a side headlock takeover. Nykk counters with a head scissors, but Edge fights out of it and they get back to their feet. Edge takes Nykk over with an armdrag and applies an armbar. Nykk gets to his feet and makes it to the ropes. The ref forces Edge to break the hold and Nykk charges but gets a hiptoss.

Edge bounces off the ropes, but Nykk drops down and hits a running leg lariat on the rebound. He covers, but only gets a two count. He picks Edge up and hits him with a hard right hand, backing him into the corner.

He gives him three knife-edge chops, but Edge blocks a fourth and hits Nykk in the midsection, taking him into the corner and hitting him with three right hands. He whips him to the opposite corner and then hits a back body drop. He goes for the Edgecution, but Nykk wiggles out of it and looks Edge right in the eyes.

He bounces off the ropes and ducks a clothesline. Edge puts his head down for another back body drop. Nykk counters with a swinging neckbreaker. Edge holds his neck in pain, and Nykk gets up and stomps on the back of his head. He applies a dragon sleeper, positioning Edge's neck on one of his knees. He lets go after a few moments and picks Edge up. Edge takes a wild swing, but Nykk ducks around him and executes a back suplex. He covers and gets a two count. Nykk lifts Edge as if for an Aurora Driver, but executes a northern lights suplex instead, for another two count. Nykk applies a one-arm camel clutch on Edge, cranking back on the neck. After about twenty five seconds, Edge starts to fade and the ref lifts his hand and drops it twice. On the third time, Edge keeps his hand up and gets to all fours, trying to power out. Nykk takes the other arm and turns it into a double-arm camel clutch, trying to force Edge back down.

Edge kicks his legs up and sends Nykk face first to the canvas. Edge somersaults through the move and ends up on top of him, holding his legs with both arms. Edge takes his feet and hooks them under Nykk's arms and rolls over, pinning Nykk's shoulders to the mat, getting a very close two count. They get to their feet and Edge bounces off the ropes for the Spear.

However, Nykk steps to the side and brings a knee up into Edge's midsection, flipping him over. Nykk grabs Edge's legs and quickly applies the Bellbrookville Cedarleaf. After about forty seconds, Edge is almost to the ropes, but Nykk pulls him back to the center of the ring. After about another twenty seconds, Edge reaches up and hooks one of Nykk's legs, making him lose his balance and allowing Edge to break the hold.

As Nykk topples to the mat, Edge slides through and applies his standing reverse figure-four. Nykk yells in pain and inches toward the ropes. After about twenty seconds, he's almost there. Edge starts to drag him back, but Nykk lunges and makes it to the ropes. Edge releases him and picks him up, but Nykk rakes the eyes. Edge turns around in pain and Nykk charges for a clothesline, but Edge ducks and hits the Edge-o-matic. He covers but gets a two count.

Edge picks Nykk up and goes for his half nelson bulldog, but Nykk escapes and hits his version of the half nelson bulldog. Frustrated, he tells the crowd that this is it.

He picks up Edge and goes for the Aurora Driver, but Edge slides down his back and executes a sunset flip. He gets a two count before Nykk kicks out. Nykk goes for a jumping reverse elbow, but Edge ducks and waits for Nykk to get to his feet. As Nykk gets up, Edge hits the Spear and covers. He gets a close two count before Nykk kicks out, and Edge can't believe it.

He picks Nykk up and sets up for the Edgecution, but Nykk swings Edge around and hits Howling Moon. He covers and gets a close two count before Edge kicks out, holding his neck in agony. Nykk is frustrated and quickly gets Edge to his feet and goes for the Aurora Driver.

As he has Edge upside down, Edge kicks his legs and manages to get back to his feet with Nykk in a front face lock. He executes the Edgecution, but is too exhausted to make the cover. After about eight seconds, he finally makes the cover but Nykk kicks out at two.

Edge picks Nykk up but Nykk palm strikes him in the face and delivers a DDT. He goes to the top rope and tries a splash, but Edge moves.

Nykk holds his midsection as Edge climbs to the top rope and delivers a missile dropkick. As Nykk gets up, Edge kicks him and delivers a piledriver. Edge covers and gets yet another close two count.

Edge confronts the ref about the count, which allows Nykk to schoolboy him and hold the tights, nearly stealing the victory. As Edge gets up, Nykk forearms him and backs him into the corner. He whips Edge to the opposite side and charges.

Edge gets his feet up and kicks Nykk in the face. As Nykk turns around in pain, Edge gets on the second rope and gets on Nykk's shoulders, going for a victory roll. However, Nykk tries to prevent Edge from rolling through with it, so Edge forces Nykk into a bent over position with Edge on his feet applying a standing head scissors. He hooks Nykk's arms and lifts him up, executing a vertebreaker and driving Nykk's neck right into the canvas. Nykk goes limp and slides off of Edge's body. Edge rolls him over and covers, finally getting the three count.

Winner: Edge at 13:43

JR: Edge has done it! He beat Nykk in his hometown at WrestleMania!

King: He dropped Nykk right on his head! Is he okay?

Edge celebrates while the ref checks Nykk.

JR: This whole thing started two months ago when Nykk nearly crippled Edge and now Edge has gotten some very much due payback!

Edge leaves the ring as some paramedics come out to check on Nykk, who is moving but holding his neck.

King: It looks like Nykk may have hurt himself on that last move. He's being helped out of here by the EMTs.

Nykk leans on a couple of EMTs as he exits the ring.

JR: What a match and what a night for Edge!
