Fact 1:  Viggo Morgensen was praised for totally immersing himself in the role of Aragorn.  He fought so realistically with the orcs that he chipped a tooth during the filming of one fight.  He asked if he could have it superguled back on, so that he could finish the scene.

Fact 2:  Viggo got so into his character that director Peter Jackson once addressed him as Aragorn for over half an hour, off set, and Viggo didn't even realize it.

Fact 3.  While shooting Orlando Bloom fell off his horse and broke a rib when John Rheys-Davis fell on top of him.

Fact 4:  Orlando Bloom did so much training in archery that by the end he was a pro.  His archery instuctor could thow a paper plate in the air, and he could nail it with an arrow.

Fact 5:  After only one month of filming the cast and crew went through 200,000 dollars worth of coffee.

Fact 6:  Miramax bought the rights to Lord of the Rings, and then got cold feet when they discovered that the production cost would be over 70 million dollars.  They then sold the rights to New Line Cinema.  Ooopsies Miramax, Lord of the Rings ended up making over 300 million dollars!

Fact 7:  Another guy was chosen to play Aragorn at first, and then was fired four days after filming.  Viggo Morgensen was then hired, and abosolutely adored by everyone!

Fact 8:  The sound director needed to make each sound as realistic as possible and decided not to shot soundbites in a studio.  When they were filming in Wellington they had to recored the soundbites at night in a graveyard, where they could be without automobile and plane noises.  The sound director had to notify Wellington police just in case anyone heard screams from the graveyard.

Fact 9:  When getting a soundbite for the orcs at Helms Deep in Two Towers, the sound director thought at first that they'd get 50 or so people together and put the soundbite on top of eachother several times, to make it sound like 10,000 people.  However, Peter Jackson had a better idea.  They got the soundbite for the orcs from a group of baseball spectators at a stadium in New Zealand during half time.  They got the group of 5,000 people to chant the Elvish language they were trying to record.
