Chloe was adopted in May 2005 from the Manhattan ACC, and she is 6 years old. Although she has posed for many pictures since this one, this remains our favorite.

Boo was so skinny when we first met him you could see every rib that he had. We were told that he had been abused and abandoned at the NYC CACC which is where the SR angels found and rescued him. He had a life threatening URI when he was brought to SR - one so bad that the vet thought he would surely die. But Boo was a fighter - and a lover as it turned out! The SR volunteers told us that even at his worst - when he couldn't breathe and was being poked and prodded with needles - he would purr at human contact. Unfortunately the abuse - and possibly the lack of oxygen to his brain from the URI - caused Boo some neurological damage - but he doesn't know it - and it certainly doesn't slow him down! My husband and I fell in love with him the first time we saw him and we love him more everyday! We wouldn't change a thing about him! Although we did change his name from Azure to Boo because he reminds us of Boo Radley - simple but with a heart of gold!

For several months, we had been in search of Siamese cats in need of rescue. We learned of the New York City Siamese Rescue after searching for no-kill Siamese shelters in the tri-state area. After an initial conversation, the Rescue staff indicated two Siamese had just been brought back after an unsuccessful adoption. All we knew was that the cats were siblings and had been rescued from the basement of a home that was under construction. Apparently, the adoptive owners had thought it a good idea to lock them in a dark basement with tremendous noise was overhead. Both cats became so frightened that they lodged themselves in a small drywall hole and were starving to death. Thank goodness the New York Siamese Rescue did a follow-up!

Only several days after their second rescue, the Rescue staff came to our home with Snik and Snak. We were carefully interviewed and that night, became proud new parents of Linus and Lucy. When they arrived in our home, both cats were woefully malnourished and traumatized. The male, Linus, is slightly older, and he took nearly a year to totally relax around us. Now, we have contented kitties who bring our lives so much joy it's not possible to express in this brief summary. They have enriched our lives in countless ways and have definitely learned that they rule the roost!

The kitties are great- so much fun. Linus is getting slightly better when guests come over, although he's still pretty skittish. Linus and Lucy are both so so funny and as they've gotten older, have both gotten quite snuggly and lovable.

My lovely girl Bella was rescued from our very own NYC Siamese Rescue. Bella is extremely affectionate with her family, friendly to new people as well as quite a talker. She's move of a squeaker than a yowler and she likes to sniff inside my ears for some strange reason. Her whiskers always tickle me when she does this.

Alvinia is a beauty who thought she'd made it home when her owner's path took a fatal turn, so this temperamental princess is still seeking her prince charming!
Entry13. |
Sheema is simply the most amazing cat ever, and it is even more amazing that it took this positive girl four tries to get the right home, but getting there is the most important thing!

Nadine is such a delicate little thing, rescued from the pound. She is a favorite with all who met her!

Little Lena had a tough life, but you'd never know it from her plucky, vibrant spirit! Despite being critically ill and losing an eye as a kitten, this brave kit brought joy to every creature she encountered! She just couldn't get enough out of life!

We adopted our little girl Leontyne from NYC Siamese Rescue about five years ago. She is #NYC0036 on Cat List page 3. She loves her brother Conway. She likes to chase him, and we often find the two of them curled up together asleep. She is an absolute joy! Thank you so much for your organization and for allowing us to adopt her.

We are so fortunate in having Natasha & Babette. They are the best, sweetest girls. Tasha has fallen for me and now allows me to pat her almost anytime. I noticed a real breakthrough in the past week. Lots of face time, eye contact and sticking with me. Then, two days ago, Tasha fell asleep beside me, rolled over and exposed her whole tummy! I patted it for the first time and she loved it. Babette has chosen Ray and loves him to pat her. She often wakes him at night to be patted, butting him, nipping at his hands or the back of his head. He doesn’t mind it at all and is so happy to be able to touch her. Tasha loves to play and was dominating our play sessions while Babby took a back seat. It took a while, but I learned how to get Babby involved and excited and she has great fun (and exercise) now. They are wonderful together: they chase each other, wash and sleep cuddled up to each other – loving sisters to the core. Thank you for them.

Jewel is a semi-feral Siamese mix who was rescued off the streets of Brooklyn where she was living in a mini-colony with Mandy the snowshoe, Mikey aka Graybaby, and Cole. These beauties seem to be all related to Mandy, and have each shown varying degrees of progress in their human negotiations. Jewel, now, will accept hand-fed treats, and makes earnest eye contact with people whom she thinks she can manipulate! She is more assured than when she first arrived, and now will confidently stay in the open near her food dish.

Rocky was apprehended on the street by City Critters, but placed through NYC Siamese Rescue. You can see how happy he is with his mom, but he is still distrustful of strangers and often hides when his mom has visitors.

Hi! I'm Franny. This is where you will find me most mornings after a peaceful night's cuddle with my mommy. My favorite sleeping place is under the covers, curled up against her tummy. My purring sends her right off to Dreamland! She is always telling me how grateful she is that I came into her life about 3 years ago from NY Siamese Rescue, and how much joy I bring to her every day. My story has a truly "happily ever after" ending.
