| "Wednesday Night at Fenway" A Wednesday night it was, on one day in May And the Boston Red Sox were the team The Yanks were gonna play For the Yankees there was Moose But who was piching for the Sox? Oh no, the BoSox always win When on the mound Pedro walks The game was scoreless through the third Each team without a hit But then Manny drove one deep to left It bounced off Knobby's mit When Nixon came up to the plate the fans stood on their feet Trot hit a 2-run homer, the Yanks looked all but beat For Pedro had a perfect game Through seven and a third The count was 3-2 on Brosius He swung and missed, cheers could be heard In the eight Mussina struck out the side He really had pitched great Except his pitch to Nixon Which he had learned to hate Soriano led off the top of the 9th He hit a liner to third The ball went under Valentin's glove! The Fenway fans said not a word So the perfect game was over With Knoblauch at the plate He walked! against Pedro? It had to have been fate So up came Derek Jeter The stadium started to boo The count went to 3 balls Strikes? there were 2 On the next pitch Jeter swung Did Pedro strike him out? No, he hit the ball to left But a homer was in doubt But wait! there came a gust of wind And it picked up the ball It carried it right over the Green monster- the left field wall! So now the Yankees had the lead But if the Sox could score a run The game would go to extra innings Instead of being done But when Mo walked out to the mound The Sox had little hope For losing was a concept With which Mariano couldn't cope But with two outs in the ninth Manny Ramirez walked up to the plate Earlier in the season he won a game That the Yanks still hate But this time Mo struck him out For the Sox, it couldn't have been worse This time the Yanks had on their side A century-old curse. |
| This game never actually happened, its just something I wrote last year while the Yanks were playing the Red Sox..... |
