- In the series opener, Andy Pettitte pitches 8 solid innings and Paul O'Neill hits a 2-run homer. Yankees win, 4-2! In Game 2, the Yankees score three in the 2nd and Mike Mussina holds the lead.  The Yanks win 3-2 and head back to New York with a 2 game advantage in the series!

Game 4- Coming off an awful 13-1 loss in Game 3, the Yankees need a win in Game 4 to keep the series from being tied.  The score is 0-0 in the 8th, but Bret Boone hits a solo homer to put the Mariners up by one.  However, the momemtum is quickly shifted as Bernie Williams hits a game-tying homer in the bottom of the 8th.  Then in the bottom of the 9th, rookie Alfonso Soriano wins the game for the Yanks with a home run off Kazahiro Sasaki!  Yankees win, 2-1!

Game 5- With the Yankee fans chanting things like "OVER-RATED" towards the Mariners, the Yanks rout the M's to take the American League Championship.  MVP Andy Pettitte is supurb and Bernie Williams, Tino Martinez, and Paul O'Neill all homer in a 12-3 Yankee win!

World Series: New York Yankees vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

Game 3- Down 2-0 in the series and back at Yankee Stadium, the Yanks desperately need a win in Game 3.  Jorge Posada leads off the 2nd with a solo homer and in the 6th, with the game tied 1-1, Scott Brosius delivers a clutch 2-out RBI single to put the Yanks up 2-1.  Shane Spencer's diving catch and the overpowering pitching performances of Roger Clemens and Mariano Rivera also play a major part in a 2-1 Yankee win!

Game 4- Down 3-1 in the bottom of the ninth on Halloween, the Yanks are one out away from being down 3 games to 1 in the series.  But then Tino Martinez connects for a miraculous 2-run homer off Byung-Hung Kim, and the game is tied! The drama doesn't stop there as in the 10th, seconds after midnight, "Mr. November" Derek Jeter hits a solo homer to right field , also off Kim, to win the game for the Yanks, 4-3!

Game 5
- In the top of the 9th, with the Yankees losing 2-0 and the game all but over, what seems like every Yankee fan in the Stadium chants Paul O'Neill's name in support for their rightfielder who is playing his last season in baseball.  Little do they know that a miracle will strike again in the bottom of the 9th:  again down by two runs and again with only one out left, a Yankee, this time Scott Brosius, ties the game with a 2-run homer!  Then in the 11th, sensational rookie Alfonso Soriano comes up huge with a clutch RBI single to win ANOTHER unbelievable game for the Yanks, this time by the score of 3-2!
Even though the Yanks ended up losing, Games 4 & 5 were called the two best back-to-back games ever in World Series history!
