1) In Fall 2000, we set up a booth at the UTD Annual Renaissance Fair, where we sold cupcakes set up in the form of a periodic table of elements.
2) In Fall 2000 and Fall 2001, we participated in the annual Sounds of Class event, setting up a Chemistry booth and demonstrating interesting science experiments for kids.
3) In Fall 2000, we participated in the Military Mail contest held at UTD to see which UTD organization could write the most letters to men and women in the military during the holidays, and won!!! We won a pizza party for it.
4) In Fall 2000, we hosted National Chemistry Week; one year we invited high school students from around the area to come to UTD to view interesting chemistry demonstrations and check out booths of different universities and companies involved with chemistry. In Fall 2001 we hosted the "Great Chemistry is Everywhere" exhibit in the galaxy room, free to all UTD students, and gave out National Chemistry Week pencils and stickers, and also handed out prizes.
5) Every year we have been helping out with the Chemistry/Biology Symposium held at UTD; CSA members volunteer to help with the event.
6) In Fall 2001 we participated in the first annual UTD Homecoming Parade; we all wore green, orange, and white t-shirts with the letters C, S, and A on them.
7) Every year we host the CSA Welcome Back party, a gathering of first-year grad students, undergrads, faculty and staff, just about everybody eating hot dogs, burgers, chips, pies, drinks....playing pool...music...it's a blast!
8) In Fall 2000, we sponsored the CSA End of Year Cookout, held right behind Berkner on the grass.....chips, hotdogs, burgers, drinks....everyone came, including grads, undergrads, professors, secretaries.
