Brush Fire at Sandalwood

The Sandalwood Subdivision in Northeast Bend is threatened by a raging brushfire just on its eastern outskirts. Responders, residents and onlookers quickly all became firefighters working together to fight back the flames and keep the fire from the neighboring houses.

We understand that this is not the content we normally publish, but we happened to be on the scene as this Northeast Bend fire developed and wanted to bring this breaking news to you.

A homeowner wets his roof down as he watches the fire approaching.
Fire responders position themselves to try and stop the oncoming fire.
Fire spreads quickly in the dry sage and brush area just outside the development.
With a slight breeze and 90 degree temperatures the fire jumps from tree to tree.
Residents on the line with firefighters with garden hoses fighting back the fire.
Firefighters responded from all over Bend to try to keep the fire away from houses.
Residents and onlookers quickly became volunteers, here seen after they helped a firefighter haul the hose out to the front lines.
