We have a 1/4 mile track.
We are located in Fairfax, VT off of route 104.
The ponies used are called Trottingbreds. This is a cross between Standardbreds and Shetlands, Hackneys or Welshes. This breed was started in the early 60's. The ponies must be under 51.5" to race.
Ponies are raced for a Half Mile on either 1/4, 1/3, 5/16 or 1/2 mile tracks located throughout the US, Canada, Bermuda and Italy.
The record for the Half Mile at the Trot is 1:01 and at the Pace :59 seconds.
Most owners do their own training and driving. Drivers range in age from 9 to 80+ yrs.
