Disclaimer: I don't own Kane, Kevin Nash, Madison Square Garden, or anything in this story except for Rusty. Thank You Kane walked in to Madison Square Garden. He walked back in to his career. Or rather, he walked back in to his life. This was everything to him. Much more than the fact it was where he got his money. He wasn't one of those Superstars that saw the company as just that. It was so much to so many of them. It was his adrenaline. The rush of the crowd, the sound of the blasting noise, it was overpowering. People chanting your name over and over- He'd always loved every minute of it. And it was his heart, too... At least, SHE was. As his pyros set off, as the crowd exploded, he made his way down the ramp. Ask anyone who's been injured what it's like to come back, and they can't tell you. All they know is, ' I'm back.' * * * A year? Two? All he knew was that he'd loved her for a while. Although sometimes, it seemed to be longer than it really was. Rusty had that kind of power over him. He never truly figured out what was so damn attractive about her. Yes, Rusty was the kind of girl that was desirable from first sight, but only physically. Kane knew her mentally. Fun, energetic, not exactly sane... One would think she was the perfect match for Jeff Hardy. But underneath, she was a different kind of girl, smart and always thinking about something. And Rusty had a dark side, he could see it in her eyes. She wasn't exactly evil, just... Hungry for something a bit more devious at times. And she had this SPIRIT... For the time that Kane had known her, Rusty had never taken shit from anyone. She was kind of aggressive, but in a good way, a way that stated she didn't let anyone walk on her. Independent at times, but close when she possessed friends. All in all, Rusty was this completely soulful and seductive goddess that had unintentionally cast her spell over Kane. And he said nothing- He never had. He did things, though. Several times, he had come to Rusty's aid when no one else could have, attempting in vain to be her knight in shining armor. She was always grateful, but the two never became great friends. They of course weren't enemies, and had even mix-tagged once or twice. That had seemed to be heaven for Kane, fighting side by side with the woman he loved. And once he'd almost gotten the nerve up to say something. It was a little after she'd turned on the wrong person, and Kane was protecting her. She'd stay in his dressing room, and sometimes they'd talk... In the end, he almost asked her to dinner. But then HE came and pulled her away from him. * And she was still with the bastard. Kane sat in the hotel lounge after the show, and watched Rusty and Kevin Nash walk around in the lobby. The blonde discreetly pinched her bottom. She sighed and looked up at him, annoyance in her chocolate eyes. He'd heard the gossip in the hallway. Nash was injured, but once in a while, he came to the shows. Always, he stated he was there to see Rusty, but left with Hunter, and they'd go off somewhere without the girl. When Kane came back, Rusty was just making the transition back to face. When the nWo had returned, gleefully the girl had joined their ranks, looking to be bad. She and Nash had been attracted to one another, and started much less than a relationship. They slept together. That was about it. Nash had never given a damn about her when McMahon had brought the faction back, and it seemed to Kane he still didn't care as long as she put out. Rusty knew this. She knew this, and at times, she tried to deny it. After all, she was lonely. The nights she spent with Nash were pleasurable, and that was it. Not meaningful. Not special. They fucked, nothing more, nothing less. It's not fun to spend the dark hours alone, so Rusty and Nash were each other's cure for lonely nights. In the faction, they worked together, but nonetheless, they still didn't care. Even though it ended up making Rusty angry at him, Kane had to try and destroy the nWo, in the time before he was injured. He did it for her, to try and make her realize that she was too good for the likes of them. So now there was no more new WORLD order. That faction had deteriorated, along with DX, and now Rusty was on her own. Free to make a fresh start in the WWE. Kane hoped she made a good one. " Hunter and I are going out for drinks. See ya." Rusty shook her head, and Nash cocked his. " What is it?" Sighing, the girl waved a hand. " Nothing... Just go." The man shrugged, and he and Hunter left. Rusty watched them leave, sorrow and anger on her face. " Here to see me, Nash..." She muttered. " Yeah, sure." She went to the elevator, and pushed the up button. It was late, around one, and she got a little nervous as she walked down the hall, and heard footsteps behind her. Whirling around she found Kane there. " Oh." She smiled up at the masked man. " Hey." With his new mask, she could see him smile back. " Hey. Did I scare you?" Rusty smiled sheepishly. " Only a little." She then grinned, and held a finger to her lips. " Shh. Don't tell." For a few moments, Kane looked beyond her finger, at her perfect, soft, pink lips. In his dreams, he'd kissed them. In his dreams, they'd done so much more. Then he wakes up, and feels like crying. Finally, he snapped out of his daze. " Don't worry. I won't." " Oh, yeah!" Rusty smacked her forehead with her hand. " I almost forgot." She laughed. " Welcome back." Kane thanked her. Dozens of people had told him this tonight, but this time, it meant the most. The big man motioned to his room. " Care for something to drink?" He asked. Rusty nodded. Nash had irritated her, and this would be a lot more pleasant. They settled down on to his bed, glasses in hand. " So you didn't go to Smackdown?" He asked. She wrinkled her nose. " Nah... I mean, I got the offer from Stephanie, but I told her no. I think RAW presents better opportunities for me personally. Besides, who wouldn't want to stay on the best rated cable show?" Kane took a sip of his drink. " You've got a point." Rusty did the same, and asked, " What about you? If Steph asks, are you going to go?" The man shook his head. " Probably not." Obviously, the reason for this was the fact that he wanted to be near Rusty. He watched the girl wistfully take another sip of wine, and look out the window. Her brown hair fell loose, and it had gotten longer since he'd last seen her. " You don't really love him, do you?" He hadn't meant to ask this. No, not at all. But he found these words spilling out of his mouth anyway. He bit his tongue as Rusty suddenly looked at him. * And this was to get my mind OFF of Nash...* She thought bitterly. " What do you mean?" She tried to play dumb with him. He sighed. " I can tell." He said, simply. Rusty put her glass on the bedside table, and Kane put his down on its twin. The girl ran a hand through her hair. " And who made it your business?" She inquired this with a nasty tone in her voice. The softest growl came from the man. He only tried to help her. Offer her something better than what she had. " No one did. But anyone blind could tell you don't." Rusty glared at him. " You weren't even here!" " And he was never there FOR you!" She hit the bed with her hand. " How the hell do you know?" He clenched a fist. The last thing he wanted was to be arguing with the girl. " It's obvious! You don't care about him, and he doesn't care about you! He never has, and you know it! You just don't care, either that or you lie to yourself." Rusty swallowed back a small sob. " And what the hell do you know about love? Nothing! You-" " I love YOU!" He yelled at her, then froze. The empathy in him had overpowered him, and forced this fact out. Rusty gasped, and stared at him. She was silent, powerful emotion in her eyes. For a long time, she thought. She couldn't believe it. He loved her. And she wondered how long it had been for, they'd known each other for years. Even though she'd joined the nWo the faction that had become Kane's enemy, he'd loved her. It began to make sense to her, all those times he'd came through for her when no one else had. That wasn't Kane trying to be macho, and make enemies, it was him protecting her, taking care of her. A strong surge of emotion shot through her, and suddenly, Nash didn't exist. Only herself, and this man, and the three words he'd told her. Slowly, she swallowed. She moved over, and straddled his legs, lowering herself on to his lap. In her hands, she held his masked face. " When you came to rescue me those times... It was because...?" He croaked his answer. " Yes." Rusty closed her eyes. " Why me?" The girl had been wearing a sleeveless shirt, and Kane ran his hands over her bare arms. His hands were warm, and sent shivers throughout her entire body. Her eyes snapped open from this, and she gazed at him. " Because..." He whispered. " You're everything... And I could give you more." Whatever it took... " No one ever told me that before." He winced. " How is that possible?" Sadly, she sighed, and told him she didn't know. They were quiet for a minute or so, Rusty there on his lap, his hands gently stroking her arms. Finally, her fingers lightly ran over his mask. " Let me see..." She asked, her voice gentle and soft. Kane hesitated, then nodded. It was what she wanted. He removed his mask. Rusty whimpered. " You're beautiful." She told him, cupping his face in her hands. " God, why would you hide?" The man had been gazing in to her eyes, but he now cast his downward. " I never felt it." Rusty placed butterfly kisses on his forehead, and eyelids. " But you are." And she leaned in. Finally, her lips were on his. Kane felt a fervor rapidly go through him. At first, they kissed lightly, but then his arms slid around her back. And in his powerful arms, he kissed her deeply. It was everything he dreamt it would be, beautiful, rich. Just like in his fantasies. His fingers glided through her silken hair. Hers caressed his cheek, and one arm wound around his neck to rest at the back of his head. He didn't know how long it lasted, only when she broke it, slowly, leaving the feeling of her lips lingering on his. Again, she looked at him for a long time. But not with the same look in her eyes. This one was scared, and she gently trembled in his arms. Never had she expected to feel this way- And about Kane, too. That was the most perfect, untouchable kiss she'd ever received, and he needed to tell her nothing more, for she'd felt it when they'd shared that kiss. She knew that he truly did love her. That it was more than just mere attraction to her. That if given the opportunity, he'd spend the rest of his life with her. Give up anything... DO anything... Just to be able to say that this girl was his. His kiss, his eyes, his touch... They stated all of this. Why would anyone refuse such a gift? She knew what he'd been through. Torture, heartache, pure pain... Things taken from him... And he'd given so much to her, now that she knew she could, she would give him at least one thing that would make him happy. And she did. Again, she leaned in to kiss him, and this time, it was even more passionate. This time, it was even more powerful. * * * (1) Rusty awoke with Kane in the morning. His arms were around her still, and the previous night came rushing back to her. It was a night she would never forget. She had never felt so loved. This was because no one had ever loved her that way as much as Kane did. That man hadn't fucked her. He'd made love to her. Because he wasn't at all like- * NASH!* Panicked, Rusty jolted up in bed. What was she going to say to him? And worse, what was he going to do to her? Kane sat up, and from behind her, he took her in his arms, gingerly cupping her breasts with his hands. " Good morning, Rusty." Forcing a smile on to her face, she told him, " Morning." He nuzzled her neck. " Don't worry about him... You don't have to any more. I'm here." Sighing, Rusty relaxed back in to his arms. " You'll take care of me... Won't you..." She smiled to herself. He brushed a kiss against her cheek. " Of course. And him if he tries anything..." Rusty placed a hand over his. " Thank you." So she had thanked him, and if he had tried, he wouldn't have been able to thank her in return enough for the gift that she had given him. * Thank YOU, Rusty.* If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
