So youve created a spiffy new world and your looking to put a cool new plot in it? Well youve come to the right place my friend. In chapter two I shall be telling you how to put a memorable plot into your players mind. So lets get on with it then.

Remember examples shall be displayed in italics.

The people of evergem have been under persistent attack for sometime. Youre job is to go around killing everything you see in order to save them.

ObviouslyK this plot is childlishly written. Lets look at it again

The people of evergem have been under persistent attack for sometime. Youre job is to go around killing everything you see in order to save them.

Who are the people of evergem? Why should you care for them? Under persistant attack from what? A dragon? A demon? Always ALWAYS. Avoid killing everything. Doing this would mean your campaigns based on the kick down the door type gaming. (descriptions can be found in the Real Dungeon Masters Guide) There is no plot to this type of gaming. Why would you kill everything in sight? What if it was a deer? Would you slaughter it just for fun? Wait lol.. dont answer that.

So we can see in this revised addition how its suppose to look

Your daughter, Bella , resides in evergem. Recently a quickly scribbled letter was sent to you by a dear friend who also lives there. He tells you of the peril. A evil draco-lich commanded by non other then nosferat has been raining havoc upon the city of evergem. Your friend pleads you too help him. Looks like youre his only hope.

Next. We must make the plot more deep an intricate. We must somehow weave the aspirations of the hero into the game. This is always unique so an example would not suffice. You need to see your player audience before you can make your decision.

NextK In NeverWinterNights text boxes will be available as in bg2. Though these things will take a long time to create. Make an effort to do so. This is how it will look

So youve returned Drow what have u seen in Baeneres house Choice 1: I saw nothing that threatened us at the moment(lie) Choice 2: They are amassing great armies to attack us! Choice 3: I was caught by one of the guards I managed to escape but I fear I will be less lucky next time.

Choice one des= YOU LIE I SEE IT IN YOUR EYES FACE YOUR DEATH SLAVE Choice 2 des= I see prepare the army we march when the heat of the great stone goes to its base

Choice 3 des= you have escaped. I will not allow this next time but I cannot afford to lose a slave right now

Its a lot more fun for the rper to do it this way.

You must also have a lot of plot. Dont skimp have, some battles to keep it interesting. However, The players should have a fair amount of time in the town yapping it yup. Learn how to balance it.

You have a good plot. Youre wondering why your friend isnt enjoying it.. well when I first became a DM I didnt know either. I mean I used big descriptive words to describe my epic world. My friend hated it! What gives?

Well it turns out my epic worlds didnt involve him a lot. Sure he got to kill monstersK but he felt that the npcs were doing more important things then him. Sure it doesnt always have to be save the world but learn how to keep it exciting.

Heres a way NOT to do a campaign Hello I am maevar I have been chosen to lead the militia into the battle against the great dragon. You can help us if u want but I dont need it..

You seeK the players dont feel needed.

Also.. constantly bombard your player with choices. Make it more expansive then linear. You dont want to make them go down the same path. For example we can take the previous thing and make it better by adding a second branch. You say no and maevar says ok. Later however your ambushed by a raid of orcs. The only party of men that can help you that are currently near you are guess who? Maevars men! Depending on the choice you made earlier. He may decide to or not help you.

In the end youll want to make your plot large and encompassing. However, avoid from making campaigns save the universe important. Unless its really big like my upcoming campaign on NWN. Also if you have a big enough world then your players wont visit the whole thing during the course of there campaign.

For example in Eternal Strife players will not visit the whole continent they will only visit approximately half of it. Even then they wont visit every area.

So with that in mind, its time for Quiz dos for this quiz I want you To make a one page module (adventure) That uses everything I taught you here. Include some backstory of your world

In chapter three I shall be teaching you how to make a good dungeon See you there
