On the internet, the line between public information and private information becomes blured. Everything that is posted on the internet is out there for public consumption, but people often forget this. They may create a site for their friends and family to view, and forget that people all over the globe can access this information. They may include personal pictures even though they do not know who is looking at them or what they are doing with the pictures. I for one would not want my image out for public consumption. They may also include their personal likes and thoughts. This information is usually considered private, but for some reason, on the internet, people have no problem displaying their private thoughts to the public. I know people who would not confide in their friends for advice, but they would get online and ask strangers about their personal problems. With the exception of commercial websites, everything on the internet consists of personal information, displayed for public consumption. |
