The Function of a Homepage
HOME
In his article "Political Education for Everyday Life," Steven Rubio describes the function of a homepage. He says that a homepage is "an attempt for an ownter to say, 'this is what i look like,' both figuratively ('these are my interests and obsessions') and literally (many, if not most, home pages include the on-line equivilant of a family photo album)." He relates the function of a homepage to Emily Dickonson saying, "I'm Nobody." Homepages are about constructing your identity. Your identity tells the viewer who you are and what you are all about. People can use many different features on the internet to create their identity. They can use pictures, sound files, text, color, diaries, etc. When you view someone's website, you are viewing a small piece of their identity.
