The North West District tries to have a very high standard of Uniform among its Queensmen. It expects that each of you should know what to wear and how to dress. To help you I include a list of the Uniform Regulations as they stand at the moment.

Traditional & 1963 Shirt Uniform

1999 / 2000 New Uniform

  1. Company Section Boys
    Company Section Boys will wear the Boys' hat with hat badge and red surround (by Boys under 15 years of age), or blue surround (by Boys of 15 years of age and over), with numerals representing the Company number, BB leather waist belt with brass buckle, white haversack worn over the right shoulder (under the epaulette where worn) and under the belt, and BB buttonhole badge worn EITHER:
    1. centrally on the left breast pocket flap and immediately above the buttonhole of the navy-blue shirt with shoulder titles, Company name tape immediately above the BB buttonhole badge, royal-blue tie, white lanyard worn through the epaulette on the left shoulder with the end tucked into the breast pocket on the same side (any slack hanging in a loop between the arm pit and pocket), with full-rise waisted plain navy-blue or plain dark grey trousers, complete with belt loops, and worn with navy-blue or black socks and black shoes. OR
    2. in the left lapel of a dark blue or black jacket, plain dark blue or plain dark grey trousers, white shirt, black tie, navy-blue or black socks and black shoes.

    Award and Service badges will be worn as defined in the Company Section Award Regulations.

    NB Where the Centenary, Windsor or other Buttonhole Badge, is worn, as authorised by the Brigade Executive, the standard buttonhole badge will not be worn.

  2. Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs)

    NCOs will wear the same uniform as Company Section Boys, with the following additions:

  3. Lance Corporals
    A one-barred Chevron worn on the right arm, above the elbow, with the point downwards.
  4. Corporals
    A two-barred Chevron worn on the right arm, above the elbow, with the point downwards.
  5. Sergeants
    A three-barred Chevron worn on the right arm, above the elbow, with the point downwards, EITHER a brown shoulder belt with brass boss worn over the left shoulder and under the epaulette, where worn, OR a red sash worn over the right shoulder, under the epaulette, where worn, and under the belt. The haversack is not worn when the red sash is worn.
  6. Seniors (who are NCOs)
    Will wear the uniform for Company Section Boys, with the additions, as above, appropriate to their rank
  7. Seniors (who are not NCOs)

    Will wear the Boys' hat with hat badge and blue surround, with numerals representing the Company number, and EITHER

    1. (where the Company Section Boys wear the full uniform shirt), the full uniform for Company Section Boys, less the haversack, two Seniors' badges worn on the epaulettes of the shirt, OR
    2. (where the Company Section Boys wear the jacket) the full uniform for the Company Section Boys, less the haversack and belt, two Seniors' collar badges worn on each side of the collar, just above each lapel, and no buttonhole badge.

    NB Seniors who are not NCOs may wear only the badges gained appropriate to the left arm.

  8. Staff-Sergeants - Men

    Staff Sergeants will wear the Boys' hat with hat badge, but without the surround and numerals, a brown leather shoulder-belt with brass boss worn over the left shoulder and under the epaulette, where worn; a four-barred reverse Chevron worn on the right arm, with the point upwards and the lower edge of the Chevron level with the bottom edge of the jacket or shirt sleeve, white gloves and short cane, and EITHER

    1. (where the Company Section Boys wear the full uniform shirt), the full uniform for Company Section Boys, less the Haversack, OR
    2. (where the Company Section Boys wear the jacket), the full uniform for Company Section Boys, less the haversack and belt.

    NB Staff Sergeants will also wear all the Company Section Awards that they have gained.

  1. Officers - Men

    Men Officers will wear the Glengarry Cap with Officers' cap badge, and one of the following alternatives -

    1. A navy-blue jacket suit without a belt; a plain white shirt, plain black tie without tie pin, black shoes and black or navy blue-socks; tan gloves. On each side of the jacket collar, just above each lapel, the approved bronze collar badges (unpolished) will be worn. On parade, jackets will be fully buttoned, OR
    2. A navy-blue shirt of the same pattern as worn by the Boys; royal-blue tie; chrome-plated epaulette badges worn on sleeves on each epaulette; the base of the badge shall be 2 cm from the wide end of the epaulette sleeve; full-rise waisted plan navy-blue trousers with belt loops; black leather waist belt with chrome-plated fittings; navy-blue or black socks and black shoes. No shoulder titles, lanyard, or gloves will be worn. The Company name tape, if used, will be worn immediately above the left pocket, OR
    3. A white shirt of the same pattern as the blue shirt worn by the Boys; plain black tie; chrome-plated epaulette badges worn on sleeves on each epaulette; the base of the badge shall be 2 cm from the wide end of the epaulette sleeve; full-rise waisted plan navy-blue trousers with belt loops; black leather waist belt with chrome-plated fittings; navy-blue or black socks and black shoes. No shoulder titles, lanyard, or gloves will be worn. The Company name tape, if used, will be worn immediately above the left pocket.
  1. Warrant Officers - Men

    Warrant Officers will wear the same uniform as Officers, as defined above, but with the special Warrant Officers' badges for cap and collars or epaulettes.

  1. Company and Senior Section boys will wear a navy blue Boys' Brigade sweatshirt and either a blue Boys' Brigade polo shirt or navy blue Boys' Brigade shirt with Boys' Brigade tie and plain dark trousers with, at the option of the relevant officer, a black leather belt with chrome Boys' Brigade buckle and plain dark footwear as deemed appropriate by the relevant officer and an armband worn on the right arm above the elbow upon which the following shall be worn:
    1. awards as per the awards regulations
    2. a tape showing the company name worn at the top of the armband
    3. where the boy is an NCO the appropriate badge worn at the bottom of the armband, viz:
      1. lance corporal: one-barred chevron with its point downwards;
      2. corporal: two-barred chevron with its point downwards;
      3. sergeant: three-barred chevron with its point downwards; and an armband worn on the left above the elbow upon which shall be worn awards as per regulations.
  2. Staff Sergeants will wear a navy blue Boys' Brigade sweatshirt and either a blue Boys' Brigade polo shirt or a blue Boys' Brigade shirt with Boys' Brigade tie and plain dark trousers, with, at the option of the relevant officer, a black leather belt with chrome Boys' Brigade buckle and plain dark footwear as deemed appropriate by the relevant officer; and an armband worn on the right arm above the elbow upon which the following shall be worn:
    1. awards as per the awards regulations
    2. a tape showing the company name worn at the top of the armband;
    3. a four-barred chevron badge worn at the bottom of the armband with its point upwards and an armband worn on the left arm above the elbow upon which shall be worn awards as per award regulations.
  3. Captains, Lieutenants and Warrant Officers will wear a navy blue Boys' Brigade sweatshirt and either a white Boys' Brigade polo shirt or a white Boys' Brigade shirt with Boys' Brigade tie, plain dark trousers with, at the option of the relevant officer, a black leather belt with chrome Boys' Brigade buckle and plain dark footwear as deemed appropriate by the relevant officer.

    At the option of the relevant officer, boys, staff sergeants and officers may wear the hat with hat badges and surrounds relevant to their rank or section.
