November 26, 2002, North Whiteville Academy students traveled to Myrtle Beach for a field learning expedition. Students participated in a mulitmedia presentation provided by the expert staff of the Ripley's Aquarium. The objective of this activity was to help the learners become more aware of the diversity of amphibians found in our region of the state.
While touring the exhibits in the aquarium, students held the horse-shoe crabs in one of the many hands-on areas.
In addition to the marine animal exhibits, students explored the interactive exhibits in the aquarium. After visiting the aquarium, students also viewed the IMAX movie- International Space Station (ISS). Prior to visiting the IMAX, students learned about the ISS with hands-on scale model building in their science class, and discovered the connection between geography and species of amphibians.
