When selecting a prospective pair of birds, we take much into consideration. We select two birds that have the most desirable characteristics that we want to make dominant. We focus on construction, temperament, health and genetics when deciding on which two compatible birds are placed together. Our pairs are bred in single flights to insure parentage of offspring and an environment free from the stress of other breeding pairs. We do not allow colony breeding. The care of the prospective parents begins at a young age. They are fed quality seed, veggie, vitamins and minerals to ensure the best health possible. Once the babies arrive, they are nurtured around the clock by their parents. At 9 days old, a numbered band is placed on their leg. Very shortly afterwards they will be handfed and cared for by their surrogate parents. They are weighed daily to ensure health and developement. Our babies leave well socialized and ready to start a new life with their families. We have had much success with our babies, and that only comes from the time and care taken with their parents. |
