| Airwalk Paez Pro Shoe (Retail for about $75 US) I picked up these shoes this summer at a Sport Mart in Minneapolis and have been surprised how well they have lasted me. My last pair of shoes (DC Nexis) wore down pretty quick and the soles were eaten away pretty quickly... These shoes, with an air pocket in the sole keep your feet in place and well cusioned from when you might have to bail. They look sweet and perform great. Critic's Rating: 9/10 * Update * After a couple more months, the rubber around the air pockets is starting to come loose and the fabric/cloth on the backof the heel is almost gone. | Welgo Pedals (retail for about $14.99 US) The stock pedals on my mosh were the Welgo design and I loved them. When I switched from 1 piece to 3 piece cranks, I had to throw the pedals in because he needed 1/2 inch pedals for his cranks. The pedals I ended up with were some stock Specialized pedals with absolutely no concave whatsoever. Non-replaceable/adjustable pins and almost no traction at all. Not fun. I ordered some more welgo's from Dan's Comp and installed them on my bike. All is good once again. I have heard reports of people breaking the bodies on their pedals after a little while, but I'm pretty big (5'11'', 210lbs) and I haven't had a single problem yet These pedals have a perfect amount of concave, adjustable and replaceable pins and come in different colors. | Ten Pack Chain Tensioners (retail for about 14.99 US) ten pack distribution I managed to connive the owner of our local bike store to throw these tensioners in with the purchas of my bike. He reluctantly agreed and I have been happy ever since. They are a simple design, a threaded post with a nut and washer set-up, welded onto a 2 inch washer. the large washer helps prevent the peg from bending because it is flush against it. They retail for $21.99 Canadian and have been very nice to me. I cut about half an inch off the post because I didn't need it, but they give you lots of room to run the axel all the way up in your dropouts. Rating: 9/10 |
