The travelers, its existence
|
|
| You may wonder why in our
organization, despite our differences in terms of cultural orientation,
political beliefs and business affiliation, we still manage to
survive and even become a strong national organization for
that matter. Strange isn't it? The reason may be is that we really love
our organization to the extent that it can bridge the gap between
and among us.
Anyways, 'The Travelers' was accidentally evolved in the land of promise - Mindanao. On August 14-15, 2004 after the 2nd National Board Meeting hosted by the Greater Davao Junior Jaycees in Davao City, JJC Fred, JJC Leadora, JJC Rico, JJC Bert and JJC Ian decided for a chapter visitation in Bukidnon specifically Maramag Junior Jaycees and CMU Junior Jaycees. The group stayed there for only three (3) hours (thanks to JJC Bryan, JJC Rendo and others) then bumiyahe na going Cagayan de Oro City kasi doon na sila sasakay papuntang Ozamiz City. While they were traveling going to Ozamiz, napag usapan nila na bakit hindi nalang tawaging "the travelers" ang grupo nila kasi nga sa time pa lang na pinagsamahan nila as well as their experiences masasabing they are really 'that travelers' in their own right. (Kasi ba naman dumating si JJC Bert ng August 16, at 4:00 AM sa Davao, eh umalis naman after one (1) hour lang na stay sa two (2) days nya na travel from Roxas City). For the information of everybody, buti nalang nakasakay sila sa last trip na byahe ng bus pero hindi direct papuntang Ozamiz. What they did? simple, going Iligan City lang sila then sakay naman papuntang Mukas, again last trip din ang bus. What a coincidence kasi pagdating nila ng Ozamiz, 'brownout' sa buong City! Sinundo sila ni JJC Bong at tumuloy sa isang hotel doon for their dinner. Before sina JJC Bert, JJC Rico and JJC Lea umuwi, dumaan muna sila sa Dipolog City for one(1) hour only. From then on, 'The Travelers' na nga ang tawag sa kanila. However, the membership in the said group is not exclusive for them only. Open ito sa lahat as long as you have the basic requirement (this is according to JJC NP Rico). To the 'Travelers,' congratulations! May you have more money to use and more time for travel so that you can reach out all JJCs not only in your respective areas but to other places which we have an existing LOMs.

Why National Board Meeting in Mindanao?
|
|
| August 14-15, 2004. Good luck? I don't
think so. Members of Greater Davao Junior Jaycees were really prepared
for the hosting of the 2nd National Board Meeting on said dates. They
sacrifices their studies and exerted lots of efforts just to make such meeting
a success. However, what happened? It was unfortunate that the
said meeting didn't reach a quorum. Since there was no
quorum, National President JJC Teodorico Bastida declared the
meeting in caucus.
We are curious as to what was the reason behind it. If we can still remember, may sunog na nangyari sa Puerto Princessa on August 13, 2004. It is sad to say that one of the houses na nasunog doon ay ang bahay nina JJC Joel Contrivida. JJC Bert Mendoza, Jr. finally decided to attend the meeting on August 13, 2004 at 4:00 PM when the National President called him up and encouraged him to be there. JJC Bert decided not to attend because his work and his studies are at stake by that time. Stop!!!!!!! Eh what is really the matter ba if they were only two (2) of them present sa meeting? Bakit hindi makapag meeting? With that, let's analyze the provisions of our Constitution and By -Laws. According to Article VI, Section 4 on The National Board, the law is clear, that: Section 4. Quorum - The presence of at least 50% of all elective members of the National Board shall constitute a quorum, a majority vote of which shall constitute a valid act of the National Board unless otherwise provided for herein. So this is the reason why wala palang quorum. Our next question is, who composed the National Board? To answer this query, the same article of our Constitution and By-Laws, Section 1, par. a & b, provides that: Section 1.a. The National
Board – The policy making body of the Philippine Junior Jaycees, Inc. The
National Board shall be composed of five (5) members, one from each of
the three- (3) areas specified in this Constitution and By – Laws, and
the National President and the National Executive Vice President. Section 1.b. The
Immediate past National President shall sit at the NB as ex-officio
member. I hope that its now clear to us why they didn't have a meeting in Davao. On the other hand, JJC Bong of Misamis Junior Jaycees extended his help. Thanks to him. He personally invited the members of the National Board na pumunta nalang sa Ozamiz at doon nalang mag meet ang lahat. To the officers and members of Greater Davao Junior Jaycees, congratulations and thank you for everything. For the minutes of the 2nd National Board Meeting, pls check this site from to time. Thank you.
