One of the finest science fiction books I have ever read, this book blew me away when I first read it. The topic of teleportation and the effect it would have on mankind in all aspects (social, economic, geographic, etc.) is something I have dreamt of often. I am in awe of this book, so much so that I forgive the "groovy" ending and chalk it up to "charming." A book I will recommend to everyone for the rest of my life.

Loved this book. Everything about it. Really thought the story was strong and the concepts again - well ahead of their time. The main character was a monster and still you cared about what happened to him and the people around him. The impact of teleportation on the society was well thought out and still has me talking.

Fantastic. Espoused philosophy without preaching while telling a good story. Great character development, and author wrapped up sub-characters & plots very smoothly. Shows great fiction is timeless.

This was cool - I have always wanted to read this, having heard that Bester is one of the "Great Old Ones" of sci-fi literature. It was a pretty good book, although it suffered slightly from some old sterotypes...
