On Basilisk Station, by David Weber

One Sentence Synopsis:
Honor Harrington, ass-kicking space jockey, is sent to the ass-end of space and given the job of protecting a transportation wormhole, which then becomes the sight of an interstellar conflict.

This is another of mine - and Toaster gave it the review I expected. I like the Honor Harrington books because I'm a techno-geek at heart...I like the _science_ in science fiction. I expect that some people would be turned off by the overly detailed technology, much like some are turned off by Clancy's overly detailed stuff. It doesn't bug me - in fact a part of me likes it. I also like, on occasion, the cardboard cut-out morality...very star wars/buck rodgers - where the good guys are good and the bad guys are bad, and never the twain shall meet. Deep reading, however, it is not...

   C+

Fun to read, but there was no question from page one that Honor would win, the bad guys would lose, and the crew would all clap each other on the back and become brothers. For me, too technical, but could see where some would really like that.

Haven't got this one yet. Is someone slacking?
