Dreams Of a Slave

As many may know a slave owns nothing, has nothing except what their Owner may give them. But there is one thing that their Owner may add to but that a slave does have of their own. It is their Dreams. That is one thing that no one can take or keep from them. Every slave has them if they are honest with themselves and others.

It may surprise you to know that many slaves have the dream of having their own private Master/Mistress. Many would say, "no a slave is part of a chain". That does not keep them from having this dream. It will not keep them from dreaming of such as having a Master/Mistress who is theirs and theirs alone.

 John Norman knew this and within his books he placed many things, a lot of which seem to have been overlooked by irc Gor. But they are there, plain and simple, in black and white print. It just takes looking for them to find them, even the quote that it is not an uncommon thing even on Gor for a slave to want a "private" Master/Mistress.

 John Norman knew that even in a world where women served Men that there was still the dream and desires of having one's own "private" Master, which is a dream of many slaves that I have spoken with.

To back this feeling up even more. John Norman placed another quote in the book that showed also that it could be possible and that even some Masters wanted the same thing.

 I was the only girl in his compartments.  I well understood the meaning of this.  He had chosen the perfection of one man, the complete master, and one woman, the total slave.   It is called the perfect bondage, each all and perfect to the other. It is right for some men, and not for others.  Must depend on whether the man has met his perfect slave and the woman her perfect master.

So it was not as uncommon as one might think that this dream could be fulfilled. That perhaps upon finding the right Master/Mistress one might actually find the dream they have so longed for and desired.

Along with this dream goes another thing. That little green-eyed monster called "jealousy". It has been said many times on IRC Gor myth that "jealousy has killed many a slave". Well so far no one has shown a quote from the books that shows where a slave was killed because of jealousy.

Once again though, John Norman did put several quotes in the books regarding such things about slaves.  That showed they were jealous. That they did react to jealous feelings and how they often deal with these feelings.

 The other girls, resenting the tunic she had been given, had stripped her. Svein Blue Tooth had laughed, masters do not interfere in the squabbles of slaves.

 Jealousy by Webster Dictionary definition states that resentful and bitter in rivalry is part of jealousy. In that quote the jealousy was over the slave receiving a tunic from a Master. The following shows that jealousy comes in many forms.

 It is natural then, given such commonalities, and abused and despised by (many) free women, that they should often seek out one another's company. It is not unusual to see them together, for example, laundering at the stream side or long basins, or sitting about in a circle, mending or sewing, or polishing silver. Sometimes they arrange their errands so that they may accompany one another. Sometimes, too, in the abundance of free time enjoyed by most urban slaves, they simply wander about, seeing the city, chatting, exchanging gossip, and such some of the pettiest of jealousies, the most absurd of resentments, the vilest of acrimonious and the most inveterate of hatreds can obtain among these beautiful, vain, vital creatures. This is particularly the case within the same house where contests often rage, sometimes subtly and sometimes not, for the favor of the master and there can be intense competitions not only for such treasures as the master's attention and affections but for articles as ordinary as combs and brushes and prizes which, whatever may be their symbolic value, are often as small in themselves as a sweet or pastry."

This quote also shows that Masters were not the only things that slave were jealous of against another slave. This shows a full out fight over the jealousy their jealousy of a Master. (yes this quote is long but worth it).

 Relius put out his cup but before the girl could pour the wine she seemed suddenly to fly off the back of the dais, the seat of her tunic firmly grasped in the small hand of Virginia Kent. Lana landed with a considerable bump on the stones of the hall, the wine flying backward.
"Relius guards Virginia," the young slave girl from Earth informed collared, Red Silk Lana. Lana scrambled to her feet, angry, her pitcher of wine set aside on the wet, red stones. The two girls stood facing one another. "I wear the leash of Relius," said Virginia. "I wear his bracelets!" Lana looked at Relius. "Leash Lana," she said. "Lana is Red Silk." She extended her wrists provocatively to Relius. "Put your bracelets on Lana. She is Red Silk. She will serve you better than a silly little White Silker." "No!" cried Virginia. Lana turned and faced her contemptuously. "Why should you," she asked, "wear the leash of a man such as Relius?" "He has chosen to guard me," said Virginia. Lana turned and looked at Relius. "Guard Lana," she said. At this point Virginia Kent put down her pitcher of wine, seized Lana by the shoulder, spun her about and struck her a rather severe blow near the left eye. Several of the men and girls at and about the tables approvingly observed the two girls rolling and scratching, biting and tearing on the floor, first White Silk on top, and then Red Silk, and then White Silk again. At last Virginia Kent, to the cheers of several of those present, sat atop Lana and was pummeling her mercilessly, until Lana, throwing up her arms and shrieking, crying out, begged for mercy. "Who wears the leash of Relius?" demanded Virginia. "Ginia!" screamed Lana. "And who his bracelets?" "Ginia!" "And who does Relius guard?" "Ginia! Ginia!" wept Lana, trying to cover her face. "Ginia!" Then Virginia Kent, breathing hard, climbed to her feet.

 But then again slaves were not the only one's on Gor who showed jealousy in the books.

"Why didn't you break his neck?" asked one of the men about. "He is really a good fellow," I said. "Besides," I added, "look at the slave girl." We looked after her, the scantily clad, auburn-haired beauty heeling her master. "Who would not be jealous of such a slave?" I asked. "Perhaps you are right," grinned the man beside me.

Which brings us to another quote.

These girls may be exchanged among the men, but commonly they are not. Most masters are rather possessive about their slaves, particularly if they are fond of them.

It shows that it was not a common thing for collared slaves to be shared between or among the Free. Which is another IRC Gor myth. To further show this, John Norman added another quote in the books.

Many Gorean men, in their vanity, will not admit to caring for slaves. Even the thought of it, it seems, would embarrass them. Who would care for a meaningless slut in a collar? Yet, too often, for just such women, luscious and helpless, and in bondage, men are prepared to kill. Indeed, more than one war on Gor has been fought to recover a single slave.

So when told a slave has nothing. Remember a slave has their dreams and that it is shown in the books that those dreams were among slaves that it is natural. Most importantly, remember that even the books show that it is possible to have your "private" Master/Mistress. You must just continue to hang onto the dream, continue to desire, never let anyone take it away from you for when you find the one, the one who is strong enough to be your "private" Master/Mistress then you will also find how much of a slave to that one you can truly be!
