The vision of NuSong Productions was given to a young man by the name of James L. Johnson back in 1996. Nicknamed Jay-Jay by his parents, born in Cincinnati, OH and being raised in Cleveland Hts., he spent his formative years listening to gospel and soul music at an early age. By the age of 5, he began to learn how to play the piano by ear. Mimicking what he heard from the radio and favorite tunes played by his parents, he was in training. Being the firstborn son of a Sunday School Superintendent (his pops) and Minister of Music (his mama), growing up in the church has had a strong influence on his spiritual background.
Jay-Jay is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music where he received a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Media. It was in college where he realized his full potential and when he came full circle with his God given musical talent. During college he was sought after by new artists to compose music in many genres, as well as develop soundtracks for them on a moments notice. He was good at it! This is when God gave him a vision of putting together a company that would serve the community. |
