..Where Your Treasure is, there your Heart will be also..
..Math. 6:21..
~A Penny~
You could ask yourself.. what is a single penny worth? We all know the cash value is one cent! That is common sense.. logical, and correct. But that is what the eyes see, and the mind knows..but then somethings are issues of the heart! And what those are.. only the holder understands..and should that holder ever share the meaning of a 'treasure' to you, don't ever make light of that.. for it could be one anchor in their lives that holds them in place and gives them added courage and strength to move ON.
There is a story written in the Bible about a lost coin; the Bible has many translations.. many applications, but only one interpretation. The verses I will show you are demonstrated as a parable, and a parable is an illustration of truth written in a story context.. to help teach. It compares something familar to something unfamilar..it helps us understand spiritual truth by using everyday objects and relationships. Parables compel listeners to discover truth..to those honestly searching..the truth becomes clear.. we must not force a parable to be saying what it does not mean, nor any text written in God's Holy Word. And with all due respect to that, I trod softly as I write on the value of a treasure, a parable, and
~my~penny~
Luke 15:8-9, 10.. suppose there is a woman with ten silver coins and she loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep her house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says,
"Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin."
[This parable relates to when one lost
person repents and comes to know Jesus.. vs.10..]
But in a larger scale of thought, along with Math. 6:21.. where your treasure is, there will be your heart also. [I believe God is pleased as we treasure the good things that life offers. He "giveth us richly all things to enjoy." (1 Tim. 6:21). In this verse, Paul is warning those who are rich not to trust in earthly riches, but still to enjoy them as a gift from the Father. God recognizes that our affections are tied to the things we value and is stating this obvious fact to emphasize our need to value heavenly things more than earthly.]
Still, there are many good and God honoring earthly things that need to be treasured and loved as well.
I have a single penny, that I count as one of my special treasures. It represents to my life something lost, that was found. It was given as a gift.. and receieved as priceless in value. It is framed, and situated where it is visible inside of my home. It is such a reminder of the goodness of God, and how much He loves me, in spite of myself. There are events that take place in our lives.. that we allow to alter how we view life and ourselves.. we get off course, and out of balance.. but He is able to restore what we have lost..given up, or that which was taken. His means to do this, are often so simple and always full of His amazing GRACE!
God really loves me, Yes, He really loves me, He loves me like I was His only child!!!
If you receive a treasure from someone, you should be sure you tell them this.. so often people give out of the depth of love in their hearts.. and dont know how much they have actually given you. As you yourself are refreshened, go refresh another!!
