The Scene
Logan's return to the mansion had been quiet, more so than
anyone had expected. Jean hugged him and not so subtly flashed her wedding band;
he just grinned. Scott gave him a dirty look and shook his hand. Storm smiled
softly and kissed his cheek. He and the Professor just stared at each other for
a long moment and then the Professor nodded his head.
"Welcome home Logan."
None of this interested any of the other residents though. The scene they were
waiting for never happened. Rogue, having been alerted to the Wolverine's return
by a very anxious Kitty, calmly came down the stairs. The gathered welcoming
crowd held its breath, but they were the only ones. Dressed in a turtleneck and
long skirt, his tags clearly visible against the dark fabric, Marie waited her
turn to greet the returning Logan.
And that was when the great moment of the Wolverine's return didn't happen.
All the money placed on this single moment didn't matter because none of it
changed hands.
'5 bucks on a tearful reunion' '10 says that he'll ignore her and go straight to
Dr. Grey' 'she'll just stay up in her room ignoring him' '7.25 on lustful gazes,
what?!'
"Welcome back."
"Yeah, its good to be home."
He didn't look at the silver hanging blatantly from her neck. She didn't twist
the chain around her fingers as she was prone to doing. He didn't ask for them
back and she didn't offer them up.
Then she smiled and said that she had homework to finish.
"Alright, see ya around."
"Yeah, for sure."
And then it was over. The scene that wasn't made was over.
