Chapter 4
Fog and
Paspartu are arrested……….…Paspartu get
back his shoes……Fix
invites Paspartu for
a drink………………….
The
young woman was
very tired and
fell asleep. When
she got up
she did not understand what
she is doing
on the elephant
with some strangers.
Francis explained to her how
they saved her
from the cruel
priests of KALI.
Then
she told them
that her name
was Auda. She
could speak very
good English. She
was indeed the
wife of the
Prince, but she
never loved him,
and she did
not want to die
with him !
She
was very thankful
to all of them, and
they all noticed
she was very
beautiful, nice and
clever.
Soon
they arrived to the
train station. From
this station trains
were going to
Fog
sent Paspartu to
get some clothes for
Auda. Then they
said goodbye to
their guide, and
Fog gave him
the elephant as
a present, for
all the help he gave
them.
Paspartu
gave the elephant a piece
of sugar, and
the elephant was
so happy that
he took Paspartu
with his trunk,
and put him
on his back !

train arrived to
Fog
was still on
schedule. He just
used the two
days that he
gained between Egypt
and Bombay in
order to save
Auda !

ship RANGUN, going
to Hong-Kong, was
leaving at

Francis, who went
to his army
camp.
Then
the police arrived.
They told Fog
and Paspartu that
they are under
arrest, and took
them to the
court-house.
Fog an Paspartu
did not understand
what happened. Then
the judge came.
"Are
you Paspartu ?" He
asked.
"Did
you entered the
temple in Bombay
with your shoes
on ? Are these
your shoes ?" And
he showed Paspartu
the shoes that
were taken from him in
Bombay.
Now
all was clear. The
British at that
time were the
rulers of

Fog was looking
around, he could
see detective Fix
sitting at the
back. Fix wanted
to arrest Fog
for the bank
robbery. He was
waiting for the
arrest-order from

Fog remained, as
usual, very calm.
The judge said:
"Paspartu, you

pounds fine"

will pay it" Said
Fog.
"And
you go to
jail. 15 days
in jail", added
the judge.

will pay his
bail***" said Fog.

Fog
did not think
much. "I will pay
it" he said.
Fog
opened his bag,
and gave the
money to the
judge.
Paspartu
asked for his
shoes, and the
judge gave them
back to him.
Than they hurried to
the harbor for
the ship RANGUN.
Auda came with Fog
and Paspartu. She
had to ran away
from India, before
the KALI priests
will find her. She
had a family
in Hong-Kong, and
she wanted to go to
them.

Detective Fix
was very angry.
Fog succeeded again
to run away !
And he
spent so much
money !
"Even if
I will get him"
thought Fix, "There
will be no
money left, and
then I will not
get any prize !"
Fix decided
to go on the
ship. RANGUN was
going to Hong-Kong,
which also belonged
to
Fix knew
that if Fog
will leave Hong-Kong on
his trip around
the world, than there will be
no way to arrest
him any more,
until he will come
back to England.
On the
ship Fog arranged
the best cabin
for Auda. They
spent lot of
time together. He
told her about
his trip around
the world, and she
told about her
life as a princess
in India.
Fix met
Paspartu on the ship,
and got from
him the whole story
about the trip
on the elephant,
and the rescue
of Auda.
The ship
passed along many
islands covered with
jungles. Many colorful
birds flew around.
Before reaching Hong-Kong
they had a
short stop on
the island of
Singapore.
Here, for
the first time
on this trip,
Fog went out,
to see the
island, the city, and
the jungles. He did
not go alone.
He rented the
best carriage and
invited Auda to go
with him.
In Singapore
the ship loaded more
coal for the engines,
and than They continued
the trip.
The next
day the wind
became strong. The RANGUN
went up and
down on the waves.
The wind was
against them, and
the speed was low.
They reached
Hong-Kong on November
6, One day
too late !
Fog missed
his next ship,
the KARNATIC, to
Paspartu was
worried that they
will have to wait
few days for
the next ship.
Fix was
happy. He may be
able to get
the arrest-order !
But Fog,
as always, he
did not get
excited. In the
harbor he asked
when the next
ship to Japan
is leaving.
Soon Fog
learned that the
KARNATIC was delayed
in order to make some
repairs. It was
still in Hong-Kong, and it
will leave only
tomorrow morning.
They all went
to one of
the best hotels
to get rooms
for the night. Fog
took for Auda the
best room in
the hotel. Then
they asked
where they
can find Auda's relatives,
who were very
famous people in
the city. They
were told that
these people left
the city long
time ago.
Immediately, Fog
offered to Auda
to come with
him to England
!
Than fog
told Paspartu:
"Go to
the KARNATIC and
reserve 3 cabins.
Do not forget –we
are leaving tomorrow
morning !"
In the
harbor Paspartu met
detective Fix, who
was also on his
way to office
of the KARNATIC.
Paspartu made
the reservation for 3
cabins, and was told
that the ship
was repaired, and it
will leave the same
evening and not
next morning.
"I am
going to tell
Fog and Auda
about it" He
said.
Fix already
knew that the
arrest-order
did not arrived
yet. He decided
to make a
last effort to
hold Fog in
Hong-Kong for few
more days. He
invited Paspartu to
have a drink with
him, and they
went into a
small pub.
Paspartu wondered
why Fix is
following Fog all the
time. He already
came to the
conclusion that he
is a detective.
But Paspartu
did know at
all about the
bank robbery.
He thought
that Fog's friends
from the club
sent to Fix
to check that
Fog is not
cheating them, and
that he is
really going all
around the world !
In the
pub Fix ordered
some drinks.
"Why are
you following Fog ?"
Paspartu asked Fix.
"Is it because
of the money ?"
"Yes" Answered
Fix, "And I want
you to help
me to hold Fog in
Hong-Kong. I will
pay you for it
500 pounds !", and
he gave some
more wine to Paspartu.
"This is
unfair !" Shouted Paspartu. "These gentlemen
from the
the club
want to make
Fog to loose
the bet !"
"What are
you talking about ?" Said Fix. "I
have nothing to do
with the
club. I am
from the

not believe it.
He was angry

drink. .

now to tell
Fog and Auda
that the KARNATIC
is leaving this
evening !"

Fix. He noticed
that Psapartu is
almost drunk, and
he had now
another idea. He
ordered for Paspartu
a pipe with
some drugs, and
another bottle of
wine.
Than he paid for
the drinks and
left.
Paspartu was
so drunk he was falling
asleep.
At the
same time Fog
and Auda were
walking in the
streets of the
city. Fog bought
her nice clothes,
and they planned
to have dinner
in a very
good restaurant.
They did
not have any
idea that the
KARNATIC is leaving
soon.
