ginger tea running through my veins
me and ginger's about the same
about the same
about the same
about the same.
herbal remedies and melodies
for maladies
Memories releasing tensions' intentions
unrest is restless unless
it finds solid ground, such as
the knotted pines
and red clay domain of
the land of Lessons-learned;
where all around,
beneath a soothing balm,
caressed by the subtle incense of
a thousand waiting years,
the sentient land,
blanketed in summer's residue
of last yesteryear's
pine needles underfoot,
addresses the footloose souls
on the path, fresh and free;
while sweet potato pie
presently gone down with lemon tea
settle into anthems of joy,
in chorus with those
screeching winged things that
explode with must-sing
primal release, on quiet sunny days
at summer's end.
Beams of late afternoon heaven
scattered through the taller pines
anointing the wandering
free-spirit juveniles
and anointing yonder sanctuary
further back down the path;
where, digesting their tater salad
in their own sweet way,
the ole folk inside sing
hymns a capello
with young'uns on syncopated knee
while thicked-heeled
grandmomma shoes
so black and stable
are keeping time on wooden floor,
rocking souls younger still
deeper into the bosom of Abraham
Yes, unrest is restless unless
it finds heaven on earth.
