Solace, longing

I sat alone in a dark room,
no human sight prevailing,
and wondered what it is I was,
and where I now was laying.

It was like the void of the womb --
of stagnant air and stale life --
but emotion, there simply was,
though absent passion and strife.

No sound in-coming like a toom--
but wait, I know where lay I;
within this silence answer was,
finding peace in crypt. I die.
