THE INFORMATION HERE IS STILL UNDER IMPROVEMENT !!!
Naresuan University Department of Physics
-2509 B.E.(1966)  Physics was a minor subject in the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, College of Education at Phitsanulok. The first faculty, Banchob Sudprasert, came here as a young pioneer of this institution.

-2510 B.E.(1967) After the coming of
Somnuek Rommaneepikul, the department of physics was established and offered the B.Ed.(Physics).

-2517 B.E. (1974) College of Education at Phitsanulok was transfered to a campus of  the new institution, Srinakharinwirot University (S.W.U.), in a Faculty of Science. As a campus, it was called Srinakharinwirot University, Phitsanulok Campus.

-In 2523 B.E.(1980), B.Sc.(Physics) program was opened.

-In 2531 B.E. (1988), The working group called "
Solar Energy Research Facilities" (SERF) was formed within the department but also including participation of the staff outside the physics department.

-In 2533 B.E.(1990), Srinakharinwirot University, Phitsanulok Campus was raised and re-established to form new independent institution, Naresuan University (NU). As the result, the department of physics was then transferred to be an organisation under Faculty of Science, Naresuan University.

-In 2536 B.E.(1993), B.Sc.(Physics) was devided into 3 branches
             * pure physics
             * physics-energy
             * physics-electronics computer
                according the research orientations of the department.

-In 2539 B.E.(1996) SERF was transformed to the authorised organisation under Office of the President, NU and its name was changed to
SERT, Solar Energy Research and Traning Center.
On 8th August of the same year, the "youngster"
Tah Poe Group of Theoretical Physics (Tptp) was formed in the physics department.

-In 2541 B.E.(1998), the department decided no longer admiting students in the program physics-energy .

-In 2542 B.E.(1999), the degree name "B.Sc." is changed to "B.S.".   B.Sc. is the degree name following the British educational system. To be consistent with the current 4 years U.S. eduational system used at NU, therefore B.Sc. was changed to B.S..

-In 2543 B.E. (2000)
the department moved to the new Science Complex Building

-In  2545 B.E.(2002), the M.S.(Applied Physics) program first started admitting student in March.
The First Tah Poe School on Cosmology was organised at NU in April. It is the first ever technical cosmology lectures in Thailand.

The department now admits about 120 students in BS(Physics), 15 studemts in M.S.(Applied Physics) program.It also shares the duties in the M.Ed.(Science Education) [physics concentration] program with the Faculty of Education.

The international M.S.(Renewable Energy) begun in 1999 under SERT and Faculty of Science is also the one that the energy technology group of the department shared responsibilities.
