Awakening Desire

The wildness of divinity
Calls me to live, to reclaim
To befriend longing
To realize possibilities
Within my heart
Desires fenced in
Dishonor the call to discovery
To be alive is to be
Suffused with longing
The voices keep me alert, urgent
A call to intimacy, to belong
Belonging is the wisdom of rhythm
Liberates longing
Into potent creativity
True belonging
Is gracious receptivity
My eternal potential
Is awakened

Surrender

It grows dark, chilling
Surrender
It presses down, stifling
Surrender
The damp creep in, soaking
Surrender
Fall into the void
Lean back, let go
Surrender
The fear is pervasive
Sink in, let go
Surrender
Find ecstasy in experience
Surrender
Dance

Rhythm pulses
Dance the hurt away
Shake, move
Loosen its constraint
Twist, swirl
Dip into the beat
Sink in
Burn away the dross
Pain immobilizes
So dance
Pins you down
So fly
Dims emotions
So live
Dive deep
Breathe in
Dance
Echoes

Echoes that resonated
Once strongly, have dimmed
The landscape has changed
Weather eroded intriguing crevices
My melody falls flat, monotonous
The beauty and mystery of complexity
Is lost into smooth nothingness
You are forever altered
To stare blankly ahead
To sing back to me only one note
Of our previous harmony
But I am not content with this
My heart wanders to other echoes
I search out depth and mystery
In other formations
To feel a striated reverberation
To hear a counterpart that delights me
Forgive my betrayal
As I sing towards a different echo
Succumb to sadness

The air is thick, palatable
As the thunderstorm threatens
There is a smell of damp, of wet dirt
Of filth that needs, to be washed away
The air is charged, the static is strong
On edge, waiting for the storm to break
Branches hang limp, as the leaves curl up  Nature aches to be watered
Heavier, it presses down, gets thick
It cannot hold anymore
It explodes, unleashing energy
Pent up rain thrown carelessly
Liberate, dissipate, spent.
Summer showers

Sunlight bounces off the clouds
The air thick
Embracing
Steam rising from the ground
Carrying the fragrance of earth
Sweat trickles down my back
Mouth open
Panting for air
The breeze
Barely caressing my skin
I sink down to the earth
Feel the moist heat
Soak through my clothes
My skin
The humid air
Growing
Thickening
Until drops
Splat
On my face
The cool drops
Excite the nerves as they
Plunk
Down over my body
Beat a hesitant rhythm
Then growing stronger
Crash down
Sliding over my face
My neck
Pooling on my belly before
Slipping off my sides
It runs
Down my legs
Cool then hot
My skin shivers
I breathe in deeply the
Summer shower
Sweet Refreshment

Nurtured
Tended, cultivated
She opens her
Face to the sun
Pigments
Enrich her color
Vibrant leaves
Soak in the dew
Enlivened, fortified
Nutrients pump
Through her veins
The timid plant
Thrives in the
Hand of the
Gardener.
What fun

What fun it is to be a girl
To catch the eye
Of some cute guy
To flirt and tease
And always please
What fun it is to be a girl

What fun it is to be a girl
To have a man
Putty in hand
To drive him wild
His senses riled
What fun it is to be a girl

What fun it is to be a girl
To feel the passion
And get some action
Whimper and sigh
And ride that high
What fun it is to be a girl

What fun it is to be a girl
To lay back spent
Worth every cent
To take a chance
With just a glance
What fun it is to be a girl
