| For Christmas, I bought myself a rather huge stocking stuffer.... a Yamaha TTR125. Not growing up around any male siblings or anyone who had dirtbikes, I had absolutely no idea of how to operate, ride, or even crank such a fascinating piece of machinery. Being female, the one thing I did know for certain was that dirtbikes looked extremely cool.... AIRBORNE!!! Before attempting potential suicide, I decided it would behoove me to have a professional instructor teach me a few safety precautions. I contacted Dave Harris of the #1 Motocross Academy and we arranged a lesson. During the discussion on mechanics and safety, I turned to David (only to ask what I thought was a serious question), "And where did you say the reverse gear was?" He replied rather softly through his half-grin that the journey to dirtbiking was going to be a long and treacherous one for me. | We hired Dave during our February school vacation this year and we traveled down to Durhamtown Plantation. My son Zach (10) and my nephew Ben (13) had their first training session since they started racing a year and a half ago. The change we noticed after the training was amazing! The boys' speed has increased dramatically. The confidence they show in their starts, cornering, and jumping is amazing. | Thanks Dave for working with both of my sons. They are both good riders with good speed. I wasn't really interested in finding someone to teach them how to just ride. I wanted someone to teach them how to ride correctly and safely. In any sport fundamentals are the keys to success. Since working with you they have both become more findamental riders and more confident riders. With this comes the speed. They both have cut their laptimes by several seconds. Their form in and out of turns has improved dramatically. Speed in turns wins races. It is a sweet sound to hear Tommy's (KXF250) bike near the rev limiter out of each corner. And Joe's step up from a 4-stroke trail bike to a race bike has been a smooth transition with your training techniques. Your enthusiasm and positive attitude in teaching is really paying off.
